Hi everybody on NamePros.

I am a newbe on NP, I hung out on several other forums...

I discovered NP is the biggest mobi forum place, so you will find me here more often...

Problem: I sold GAMBLE.mobi! - $ 33,000

Should I be happy with it? I dont know... I am happy with the cash, but on the other hand: did I sell too early? Will GAMBLE.mobi be worth much much more in the future?

Seven days ago I was negotiating on Sedo with a buyer. He started @ about $ 5,000. I returned an offer of $ 33,000 and heard almost nothing, untill this afternoon...

Dear Mr. Veeger,

We are pleased to inform you that your offer of 33000 $US for gamble.mobi has been accepted.

You and the seller have now agreed to a legally binding contract for the sale of this domain name.

My first reaction was: F#CK! I lost one of my best domains... I lost it! Damn...

I was willing to sell the domain. But always via an auction. I thought that I could start an auction when the buyer accepted my offer. But it appeared that if I make a counter offer and the buyer accepts it, you can not start an auction.

Is the $ 33,000 (10 bucks more than laptops  ) a reasonable price for this moment?

Congratulations! I would take the money and reinvest into a better name. Possibly wait until mTLD starts auctioning off their premium names.. or just buy one or two keyword .com's

Good luck :)

I am no expert but I think good price for now, but if you help on would have been alot more. But hey its a Gamble. 33000.00 is alot of cash! Invest some of it in more names!

Congrats!

Good and bad! if you had it up for sale, $33K is a great price for selling now. However, I would think if you held out for the market to peak you could have easily got xxx,xxx or even more.

Just my opinion, congrats and welcome :tu:

Congratulations on your sale.

I think your first reaction was "this is unbelievable", rather than you being upset you lost your domain. I'm sure you are upset that you lost this name, but we can clearly tell you are very excited to have made this sale. You know that is a very reasonable price for the moment. I doubt you really want advice on if you think this is a good sale or not. You are just excited you sold this.

Don't worry. If I owned this name and sold it for this amount I'd be posting my sale on every message board too. Good job.

.....Of course if you waited a year you would have made at least half a million

:D

You own some very good Mobi names. Don't sell any of your other good ones for a while. Wait to see how Mobi pans out. They could be worth soooo much more in a year or two. If Mobi fails your names will still be worth alot because your names are still quality for the extension. The value of Premium Mobi Names will only go up, no matter what happens to Mobi.

I really thought: "With that amount I cannot quit my job at the moment..."

Haha. If you rejected a $25k offer last week why did you only sell it for $33k? Did the transaction go through, can you stop it? If you enter this name into the next Traffic auction I think you can get at least $60k for it.

Your other names will bring you great wealth so if you sell this name now it won't hurt you.

Well, you took the "gamble" with that. Check out Jeremy's therad below about domain valuation and see for yourself if you got good deal or not:

I don't think Sedo can force you to sell, if you don't want to. I think you can still reject the offer, if you want.

Thanks Vcool. I read it and thats why I registered @ NP...

If I do not sell, its not so good for my reputation. It is now about 8 ours ago that I got the mail. In these ours I decided to sell...

That sounds like you are the buyer!!!

You lucky bastard! LOL

That would have been a hard one! 33k is a lot to turn down, but if .mobi keeps up at this pace that name could have gone for SO much more.

I'd have trouble sleeping over it. :)

Hope that makes you feel better. :) j/k

Congrats on the sale, though. It was definitely a good one. You need to hold off on your other names until the next Traffic auction.

-EDIT-

On second thought, I just looked at the Overture. Isn't that much. I figured it was more. Also, all of the other major extensions are owned by individuals it seems and either not developed or are glorified PPC pages.

So I take back the not being able to sleep thing. I'd probably be happy with the sale. It IS a lot of money.

I wish I was......but I am not.

I did however, buy 8 nice Spanish domains today from NP member 'yoyosean' who got loads of great Spanish domains.

Long live the mobi....we are all having a great fun.

Good luck to you: it is a good deal for both buyer and seller.

Thanks.

Don't look back.

There is a high probability that the buyer will sell for a profit or achieve some level of cashflow that makes this purchase worthwhile.

In the meantime, congratulate yourself... you've just done something that I doubt Warren Buffett could claim...

YOU TURNED A $100 INVESTMENT INTO $33,000 IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS!!!

Now, if there is any way that you can set some sort of censorship button on your computer that will automatically erase the word GAMBLE, you will never know whether the new buyer turns a profit...!!!

Go buy yourself something tangiable, take a vacation, or do something frivolous... enjoy at least some of the money somehow.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Padawer
