Are single word plurels in a .com .net or .mobi any good. Estibot gives them all a value of $100-$400. What does everyone think. Should I just assume if it is currently not registered, there is a reason? Some of them are pretty good names from a readabilty stand point and they would be easy to remember. I don't know, just chime in on the topic.

thanks

Some words make no sense in plural, like "domainings" or "eatings". Stay away from these even if Estibot likes them.

It depends on name. Some are better as singular, some as plural. "Opening" is surely better than "openings". But I`m not sure what about "window" and "windows" for example :) Or "Women" and "woman", "pill" and "pills" etc - sometimes plural can be even better.

as a general rule, stay away from plurals of verbs
plurals of nouns are always good

example: eat is a verb. Eat.com is worth half a million. Eats.com is worth less than 10% of that.

example: car is a noun. Car.com is worth a million. Cars.com is worth even more.

Of course it varies from name to name, but verbs generally tend to do less as plurals.

Sashas might want to edit that post. Car is a noun... Make us English majors proud!

Plurals can be good if the word ends in a letter next to the "s".

I say buy. If you can snag some good ones you might be able to get a return.

I'd be really surprised if there are any good single word .coms left at all... it would have to be something pretty obscure I think

Good answers from everyone, let me just point out that there's a huge difference between .com, .net and .mobi in valuation. This is obvious to many, but etittle52 many not realize this.

Verbs are almost always better in singular form because they imply (in English) both the present form and plural subjects - both good for verstality. Pluralized verbs connote a singular subject - and limit the possibile meanings for a verb standing by itself. And tenses and forms also have an effect on meaning - present participles are great because they imply action (shopping).

Nouns are interesting because most of the time it depends on what reality is. Uh oh! For example, there is only one "sun" so sun makes more sense than suns; the same with earth vs. earths. However, there are many, many more than one car, so cars is better than car. And so is hats to hat, etc.

Adjectives are better singular.

Adverbs are just ugly!

And some words are better singular even when we want them plural - money vs. monies or moneys :hehe:
