CME Group will launch a digital trading platform which will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Unlike the traditional physical spot cost model for investing in gold with management fees and ongoing storage charges levied, RMGs will offer ownership of the underlying gold with the option for conversion to physical gold by The Royal Mint with zero storage cost.

This quote is from the RM site. I read that as being a derivative note that may be based on a fractional reserve of gold. The danger here is that if gold appreciates (which I am sure it will) they may not have the rsources to repay all investors.

I can't find out why they think they are creating a distributed ledger. I'm starting to think this is marketing-speak to try to exploit the popularity of Bitcoin. Also, there doesn't seem to be any indication that buyers can trade amongst themselves, but have to buy and sell through authorised agents. Please correct me if I am wrong in this assumption.

This is my FEAR too that's why I must ask now direct from them.

And it is starting to think it is just a marketing ploy to attach themselves to a hot topic.

I'm sure the royal mint has been approached by bitcoin developers in the past if they could allow their bitcoin customers like from colonnade or bitstamp to be able to easily convert their bitcoin to royal mint gold especially when say something happens in the world that affects the price of bitcoin (drop) like say war or Donald Trump presidency .lol

Ok now negative Nellie's lol . I've been poking around the royal mint website. Worried about all this uncertainty with RMG. Then had a light bulb moment. One question popped into my head.

How do I make money from RMG while this uncharted territory develops into whatever?

How do I sit on my RMG domains till an end-user comes?

Then I asked does royal mint have an affliate program?

Answer?

Yes!!!!!!!

The Royal Mint affiliate program!

Managed by Rakuten Linkshare . Just googled it.

Does this give anyone ideas?

Thank you and beer appreciated :xf.wink:

It gets even more confusing - There is a company called RMG wealth management. RMG is the code for the Royal Mail shares on the London Stock Exchange. RMG.co.uk resolves to the Royal Museum Grenwich. RMG.com is owned by Energas - a manufacturer of fuel gas meters and transmission systems.

I think I'm keeping clear of RMG names, although there does seem some scope for alternative uses.

You may find that you will be chucked off the affiliate program if you use a domain with RMG in the name.

You think so?
Plenty of gold stores online that blatantly use their product names on their sites.
So pride + company identity "Trumps" over greed?? Lol

I've been investing in domain names long enough to remember the Tesco banking case. It cost a domainer ( I use that term loosly ) a lot of money if I remember correctly.

Hurry up everyone delete your rmg names so I can snag them up since the term will be also the term used for the blockchains use. Not like its got a crap ton of search results About 8,940,000 results (0.57 seconds). That number did't get real high until this was announced when i registered my names i believe it was a few mill less even.

ok so gave up on RMG. and switched gears and got something more generic.

GoldBlockchains.com
MintBlockchain.com
BlockBullion.com

if this RMG strategy by Royal Mint gains traction and beings popular. how many Gold mints around the world in each country like say. USA or Canada or Singapore won't follow suit and create their own Blockchain based Gold asset "receipt"? I mean it's a really good idea to reduce all the stupid fees involved with holding physical gold.

I picture a world with more than one blockchain based Gold asset.

Rmg's are blockchain "receipts " for gold ownership. Which entitles you to guaranteed conversion to gold. I'm assuming at point of purchase the price is locked .

Rmg's I'm assuming can be kept on a flash drive like cryptos.

Can you give some one $1 million dollars in rmg's in exchange for a house? A car? Shopping online?

As the value of all currencies get devalued . As a retailer would you not look into developing ways to allow your rich customers with stable gold backed rmg's a way to pay with rmg's ?

Bitcoin paved the way.

Rmg's nailed it.

Remember the Brits need a cash cow post brexit.

Well, that's your interpretation and for your sake I hope you're correct....

I guess the way I read into it is that it's not a whole lot different than trading spot gold on the open market. You will still have to go through brokerage houses and brokers to trade.... I don't think it's going to be some funky "Internet only" bitcoin scenario where anonymous people can slap down cash and receive virtual money receipts in return.... it will be regulated by securities commission's and sold through proper brokerage houses.

Having said that, I may be completely wrong and you guys might all be looking down on me from your multimillion dollar mansions in a few years from your RMG profits.

hahahaha lol I wish! but I gotta look at those "angles" you've mentioned. someone already has RMGBrokerage.com on here.

the closest I have is RMGHouse.com as in "brokerage house".

I like it for it's multi use. can be use with brokerage angle but also if EVER this RMG can be use to buy a house. I'm in like Flynn.

sweet! I like that! thanks!

I'm slowly considering grace deleting some RMG domains now. still got 4 days left. so someone either convince me TO or NOT to.

so no one thinks RMG will ever be used as a payment system? like buy a car? or gamble with?

here's my idea. if Royal Mint has an affiliate program.

imagine this.

Say thee owner of 888.com one of the biggest casino online outfits in the world. decided to be an affiliate of Royal Mint?

and instead of paying out whatever. they opted to "convince" their users to get paid in RMG.

why? because 888.com would get a "kickback" from Royal Mint for "convincing" the user to get RMG instead of cash.

giving them the salespitch that Gold retains more value over time than CASH.

see the Royal Mint or CME group's angle would be the $$ they make selling RMG's for these holders of RMG's.

I think you are clutching at straws. :)

I'd delete them, but I've been wrong so many times in the past. I was the one who said the Beatles would never be a success with a name like that. :)
