I recently bought a new gtld extension domain. Its a good one in my opinion. I left my domain for sale on SEDO for like a month now and nothings been going on. Should invest some money for exposure on their site? I want feedback from people who have experience with this. Thanks!

Paid exposure on Sedo is not a feature that many domainers would use. The reasons that you do not get offers / sales may be:
1. High asking price.
2. Lower quality of the domain name. It often takes years to get a reasonable offer on a domain, unless it is very "hot" and premier. One has to be patient.
3. The prejudice against new gltds that many people still have, and I believe will continue to have for a few years.

In general, I would advise to stick to .com , unless you know exactly what you are doing.

I agree with Nerevar,

I would also focus on testing on other market places If you really feel this is a good new gtld and it has potential. Try Godaddy, NameJet, Flippa etc and see what kind of results you see from it. Even give forum auctions a try and see if any other domainers would be interested.

In my opinion when it comes to the new gtlds you will have to play the waiting game and hold it for a while till they start gaining some popularity and value. I believe a lot of people see them as long term investments.

Every time I've spent money on promoted listings it's been wasted.

If someone wants your name, they'll find your name. A marketplace is just an easy place for the transaction to take place.

depending on the actual domain and renewal fee, it's a big gamble to invest in new .whatevers.

so don't double dip out your pocket again to promote it

imo...

Most likely, that would mean throwing away even more money.
New extensions don't sell often at all. You may think that domain is great, yet it was unregistered until you came around...
Good domains sell for themselves period. Exposure is not the problem. The problem is lack of demand.

Sedo paid listings are not much fruitful IMO.

List the domain at all the major marketplaces and it's free.

If you got money to spend then buy ads on sites related to the domain. http://buysellads.com
