I have to single letter gTLD domains that I am about to let drop. The renewal is $140. I originally bought them for very cheap and this is the first renewal.

Should I renew? Just looking for opinions. I have 8 days to decide.

Scrape -> load into dir script -> rake Adsense = is dead.

(but that's fairly off topic here I'd say)

If you've enough time left, try looking for developed .directory sites that will benefit from upgrading to your one letter .directory domains.

exactly.

Or search for Ltermdirectory.cno sites (where L is your letter)

I am in agreement. I will sell off 100 other domains that will far cover the cost of those two. The extension is long but I think possibly useful. I will renew.

R.directory
Q.directory

A "one letter" gTLD which consists of actually 10 characters. Only possible with the new gTLDs! :xf.wink:

With the new gTLDs everyone's counting the keyword after the dot and seeing the domain as a whole for a domain to make sense (with the exception of certain gTLDs such as .xyz, since after the dot has zero meaning there). But when it comes to "one letter" gTLD domains a lot of gTLD registrants suddenly ignore what is after the dot, as if the extra characters suddenly don't make the domain longer anymore. I never considered domains such as x.photography (12 characters!), b.accountant (11 characters), t.technology (11 characters),... "one letter" domains, but that's just me.

Personally I would skip these 2 and use the $280 you save on yearly renewals to buy a decent ccTLD or .com. I'm sure you can buy one or two decent/good domains shorter than 10 characters for that money, and probably with a <$10 renewal rate. :xf.smile:

if you hesitate to renew,
just throw an auction on the forum with 100$ starting price

My only hesitation is that for 280 I could pick up a liquid domain instead (LLLL) or something.
Do both :)
Also agree with getting matching .com if available
Happy Hunting!

Agree, the number of characters is important. Most New "G"s that are doing well are 5 characters or less.
With longer New "G"s it depends on the value of the particular "Keyword" Also. So many more domains can be created compared to the com equivalents. In one of your examples however, I wouldn't invest in Technology just because Tech is available. The longer version should never have been allowed and will most likely be the top producers of UDRP's in the future. Thanks ICANN
Single letter + great keyword is worth a spec up to 5 years but I think after that the ROI may not be worth the hold.

xyz means "little universe" in China. This market has a very different way of communicating which should also be taken into account.

So for anyone interested in knowing, I have decided to let the two single letter domains drop.

My research has shown me that there are actually lots of single letter domains available, some at reasonable prices even, thanks to all the extensions out there.

What matters alot is what is right of the dot. These two domains were not great in that department.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for helping me make the decision. Sometimes heart can get in the way of reason.

Now I can go and invest in a solid liquid domain. :)

if the whole domain name is meaningless and the tld is weak, drop it .
c.at ,dr.one,s.top ... is good , but 1.xyz , 9.at, i.one , a.top ... are weak .
