According to ahead.tv renewal fees for this name is $262 per year.

Geo's like this are not selling anywhere near to $xx,xxx in 99% of sales, especially when they have premium renewal fees.

I dont think it was a bad price for buyer or seller. This name obviously has great potential to become something great, i'd imagine the buyer will be developing it to cash in on the tourist trade.

Congrats to buyer & seller.

As far as developing this name is concerned I think buyer will have tough time because of very well developed Seychelles.com website.Seychelles.com is developed by tourism board of Seychelles.

And for flipping the name instead of development I'm not sure if buyer will be able to sell it for more than the price buyer paid currently i.e. $1050.

6 months from now it could sell for more I guess.

Regards buying to flip then i agree with you, it wouldnt be easy to flip but the buyer also did not overpay IMHO
It was a fair deal for both parties

Regards development, i wouldnt never be put off just becuase the .com was well developed. In most decent Geo's then the .com, .net & even .co.uk, .info and .org are developed. As long as the .tv is not a carbon copy of the .com then it has a chance of making their mark but Geo development is a hard business that requires much more than just a domain & a nice site.

If i'm not mistaken then the buyer is a NP member but i'll leave that to the member to announce. If im correct then this member is a proven developer who will go into development with a very well researched business plan.

If buyer doesn't develop the name then buyer can hold the name for 6 months to 1 year before flipping for good profit since the yearly renewal fees is just $262 compare to other similar geo name's renewal fees.

Personally,I think buyer will be able to sell the name for decent profit in 1 year itself because of nice geo & low renewal fees.

i'm almost sure the buyer wont be flipping but if he does decide to then the renewal fee is not too large so shouldnt scare buyers away like i have been from many Geo's of late.
Though Geo's are not as easy to sell as many think, i personally own geo's that have been appraised at $xx,xxx and have received only 1 offer for every 12 months i've owned them.

More & more the Geo buyers are avoiding Premium domains on the aftermarket to pay a little more and get non premiums of similar quality.

Yes,
I agree with Ronnie.

Geo .TV names with premium renewals are struggling to fetch a good profit.

Recently Goiania.TV went for $2,550 at Sedo (non-premium).

Interesting.

Bottomline, if buyer holds the name for over 1 year, that will be $1050 + $262 = $1310

So if buyer plans to sell the name after 1 year, then buyer will have to sell it for more than $1310 to make some profit.

As you said, Geo buyers are relunctant to buy Premium Geo names then it will be tough sell.

All depends how high the Premium is though.
Some Geo's have $5K+ renewal fees and that will make it extremely hard to fetch a profit, no matter how good the name. IMHO
I feel comfortable regging/buying Geo's with Premium fees under $1K but even then i think long & hard about buying Premiums, i only go near premiums for names that i think are extra special (I only own 4 Premiums, all under $500 a yr)

extremely cheap as huge tourist destination and top end holidays.
i would imagine a family of four holiday would be around the $8k mark and that wouldnt be the top end trips either. prob in the middle.

if an operator has bought this, they should err, umm, get it back in half an hour

:sold:

cheap!

Price seems very cheap but the renewal fees would put me off.

No wonder ones like scottish.TV at $500 yearly reg fee is still available.

Is your one a premium reg fee Ronnie ?

PS - I'm no longer a .TV vigin  I just bought my first two but can't say what they are just now

I think renewal on Seychelles.tv is good compare to other names in similar category.

Overall I think the price was good for developing website but for flipping it will be tough.

I hope buyer has plans to develop and reap the benefits over long term.

Congrats to buyer & seller.

If you mean my Scotland.TV then yes it is a Premium at $250 a Yr which i feel is a bargain. :)

I think the reason Scottish.TV would be unavailable as i'm sure it is a Trademark of Scottish televsion (Stv.tv is their site)

I was the first bidder on this one and then (SHAME SHAME SHAME) wasn't around on Sedo for the end of the auction. If I was I would have gone slightly higher.

I really liked the low premium on this one and thought the market for Seychelles tourism is mostly bIG price, not small fry package-stuff. The returns on a one month filming schedule in the Seychelles (and the accompanying holiday) would have been far higher than any outlay.

Good luck to the seller (it was Brett Moffitt) who did a fairly canny flip on this name, having hand regged it from the drop only a few weeks ago.

To the buyer may I suggest that if you need a film crew, please get in touch. Seriously - I think you have a nice name at a good price and a wonderful opportunity to develop.

As for SCOTTISH.TV - I recently regged Scot.TV, a premium name, but wouldn't have touched Scottish.TV if you had given it me free of charge - I like the view from OUTSIDE the courtroom not inside it!!!
