simply the word "rights" doesnt give you unending rights for the sole purpose of ownership or acquirement. If you have a trademark right of the word alone then no person can use similar words or exact words as mentioned but if you have the trademark for the domain then you can use similar domains
If the laws were if otherway, the registrar of the .in domains should have blocked the registration of the domain at the initial stage itself
Its the loophole of the law that it never prevents its infringement and later comes up with accusations

I am not sure if google has trademark rights on "google" and not "google.com/us etc"
then google.in would violate the laws

A great name at a great price,especially considering how young .in still is.Seeing all the .in/co.in names on Sedo with multiple bids,I'm sure there's many more sales to come.
