Update: We've successfully retired the gerbils running in the server wheel and upgraded to a team of stallions. :P The Primary Maint. of changing servers is now complete. Please report / post any issues you may be experiencing in this thread. It would be extremely helpful if you can include screenshots, browser + version, operating system, and as much detail as possible about the issue / bug you encountered.

What URL are you at when this happens? I see an issue in associated JavaScript that might cause this if you were at certain URLs.

Update: I think I fixed the problem; let me know if it works. It might take up to an hour for the changes to propagate.

Appears the legacy Quotas group was missing a setting (Which you are also a part of), so it may have conflicted with other group settings on that forum. Try again, you should be able to now.

(Though tags aren't really a high priority :p )

We just finished rebuilding the search index. Next on our list is the tag index. We had to pretty much rewrite the tool for rebuilding the search index to get it done in a timely fashion, so we'll likely need to do the same for the script that rebuilds the tag index. If possible, we'll start with newer posts first for your convenience.

The limit is currently set to "0" which defaults to "Unlimited characters" in the body. The title on the other hand is limited to 85 characters. So I don't think the length of the body in your post would be effected by the settings.

However, we were having this problem with signatures earlier due to bad line wrapping code, and it seems to now be limiting posts based on the new value for signatures. I have no idea why it started doing this. I just disabled that unnecessary line wrap detection.

Tags still aren't working. My life feels empty and the void seems unfillable. How can this not be important? Does no one else feel this chasm of emptiness?

Tags are humor and humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It lightens human burdens. It is the direct route to serenity and contentment.

Tags are where we can direct our pain, anger, or love and share them with our peers and friends. The burden of life is lifted and our shoulders are less weighted with the every day.

While tags don't make everything possible they do make things easier. The sooner this issue is fixed the sooner you will feel the collective namepros sigh lighten the atmosphere.

So in summary. It's still not working but I can be patient - it's Johname that has the clever punnery in his brain waiting to be posted before he forgets.

And what is this group (legacy quotes) that I'm part of ? Is that like the super not secret large portfolio group?

@___ (A.k.a. DefaultUser): It appears that the Tags may have to wait till the tagging index is rebuilt then as Paul mentioned. All the settings are looking correct on this end. was worth a shot

For some reason about 3 out of 5 refreshes or page changes I end up landing on cloudflare.com with 502 error......not sure if your still working but figured I would mention this just in case.

Is this an ongoing thing, or does it happen around 11pm cst / 12am cst? I ask because we have automated maint. tasks that run around that time every night that can cause the 502's similar to what you're describing.

Well I'm not usually on NP at those times anymore but today it was around 9pm CST today...not sure if maybe it's a cache issue on my end...will clean cache and such.

Update on Truncated posts: After some extensive testing we have identified an anomaly with special characters that seem to force text to stop in the post body. We are still working on sorting out a list of special characters to see if we can bypass some of the truncating. This may or may not be the complete issue, however testing has proven that it is a factor.

We'll update you again when we've made more progress. For now, those of you that had posts truncated, if you could start trying to remove any special characters from your long posts, it may help you get everything in the post when you submit it. I know it's more work and annoying and I apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully we'll have it fixed soon.

We're trying to fix the truncated line/post issue by changing the charset in various locations to UTF-8. For some reason, our forum software defaults to a rather restrictive subset of UTF-8. We've made some progress, but there still seems to be an issue.

I've actually been having the same issue. I get the 502 bad gateway error several times a day and it's been going on for at least 3 days. It happens when I try to read random posts. It's intermittent and while some posts load, some don't.

This means that something is loading very slowly. After about 30 seconds, the server just gives up. As you and others request such pages, the database will optimize itself. We're also using memcached to increase optimization.

Update: We think we've finally put the truncation bug to rest. Tests and results would be much appreciated. Note that your browser might cache old versions of posts that are truncated, so be sure to do a hard refresh. When it doubt, switch to a private session, which uses a separate cache, or try another browser, just to be sure.

That maintenance task used to last a good five minutes, but we're down to a few seconds, so a refresh generally fixes the problem. It's more likely to be a bad query I would say, but that is a problematic timeframe.
