.tv Selling .tv names in an attempt to acquire more

I finally started selling off my .tv names I am receiving offers on to either put away development funds, or to acquire names that I feel are much better, especially now that DM will be releasing more keywords soon.

I have sold 4 names, which allowed me to start my own domain name marketplace that is free for domainers like us: www.FreeNameExchange.com. Feel free to chime in here and help me decide what to add next:

One thing Millers suggested was to maintain an exclusive .tv site.

Anyway, do you think its wise to hold and develop .tv names, or sell and speculate on some premium keyword .tv names?

Development of .tv is a major PITA and I am starting to enjoy the speculation side now that some of my domains are selling.

see, i love them all- i dont just pick domains- i reg names that i can see some sort of plan for if i kept it- which makes it hard because i "could" develope every name i have- and i can't possibly do that- i dont even have just one favorite, so it is just easier to sell-

Well, I have a fairly large size portfolio. 87% of my portfolio is .com. However, my strength and what I enjoy is direct inside sales. But.... the 3 names that are my favorit and have plans to develope are .tv names.Every extension is a speculation.... but the fact that they are selling now doesn't really mean anything except someone knows or plans on something you have no clue about.

I personally think right now it's a buyers market and have been focused on building my .tv portfolio ever since ShuShu's erroneous prediction on the market. Sell early... won't stop ya... send me your portfolio and we'll see :blink:

I take the same approach: If I cannot see a plan that I can execute to make a .tv name successful, I will probably not give it a second thought. My only problem is that I like too many of my names, so I figure I can sell some and worry about those I am developing when some more sales occur.

Does that mean 87% of your renewal fees are .com renewal fees? I have more .com names than .tv names, but my .tv renewal fees far exceed my .com renewal fees.

I think domain buying and selling is a bit speculative and a bit like an investment. It definitely carries risk and its not 100% guaranteed, but that is what adds an element of fun. One of us could register some archaic .tv or .com name today, and some buyer desperate for the name may buy it and pay us a ridiculous amount. Haven't you seen some non premium .tv names sell for $7,500 plus. That is exciting news.

Whenever I thought of a dot tv, I had this layout in my head. I always was looking at the tv as something that I have choices on in a visual way. Much like watching a real tv with built in picture in picture, I want the site to have pictures in the frame that I can click on and go to. Ideally, I want all the pictures to be like a real picture in picture, and be live and moving.

So basically, I had the vision in my head, and I just needed to match the name to it. I love the name stationzero.tv, but I am still flipping the possibility of using presenting.tv because I think the name would fit better for that site.
