Ok so im new to IM by a month or so but i have dived into it well. I just recently looked into selling domains i purchased a domain from hostgator while i was setting up my account to host my blog on. But now i want to sell the domain i have with them. I noticed they said there is a 60 day lock does this mean that i cannot sell it until 60 days have passed? And if it is possible could anyone direct me or educate me on how to do so i have set up a sedo account already. Any help with this will be very appreciated thanks.

Yes. I don't know much about how Hostgator Domains work but at most companies they would allow you to push to another Hostgator account during this 60 day window (because that is not a transfer to another Registrar).

I would think it most probable that if somebody was to buy your domain, they probably would not want to leave it at Hostgator anyway. So after 60 days, unlock the domain and grab the auth code, so you can provide it to the eventual buyer and they can effect a smooth transfer.

yes, but you can only "push" it into another godaddy account. The buyer would need a godaddy account for that but a lot of people have accounts there.

Domains can't be transferred to another registrar until 60 days have passed.

Yes. They operate the same because it's an ICANN Rule. And, just like I said above, you can push it to another GoDaddy Account within the 60 days. The good thing about GoDaddy is the 1) End Users trust them, and 2) most Domainers also have an account there. Which makes for a much larger pool of potential customers than at Hostgator, and it's why I said most potential buyers would want to transfer away from Hostgator.
