Hello NPer's..
I have some questions regarding selling domain..

1. Can we transfer or sell the domain after get it from other user? For example, buy in NP Auction and then sell it to end user. Does 60 days term apply?

2. How about purchasing domain from GoDaddy Closeout. Does 60 days term apply to this type of domain? Or we can start selling/transfer it to end user?

It is really confusing me.

Thanks!

1. Depends on the registrar. At eNom, for example you cannot push a domain to another account for 7 days. GoDaddy has no such restriction. You can push to another GoDaddy account immediately. GoDaddy's 60 day hold is when any of the Registrant info changes, which normally happens with a push. It does not affect pushes, only transfers out of GoDaddy. But since this is against ICANN rules, you can ask GoDaddy to lift that ban.

2. Same situation as 1, afaik.

At Dynadot I can register new .in domains and push them to another Dynadot member right away. If I register a .tv domain, I have to wait for 5 days to do the push.

As was mentioned, at Godaddy you can complain to them and you should get them to allow you to transfer a domain before the 60 period following a registrant change passes.

But there is an easier way: When pushing a Godaddy name, ask the seller to NOT change or select to change the registrant information. If the registrant contact information stays the same, you can transfer out as long as no previous 60-limit was active.

So if you can't change the registrant, how can you transfer the domain to another registrar? Well you can ask the seller to approve any tranfer emails, but you can also change ONLY THE REGISTRANT EMAIL ADDRESS and this should NOT cause a 60-lock on the domain. It has worked for me. Then you can approve the trnafer yourself.

@Neilsencl - Shouldn't that be ONLY CHANGE THE OTHER ADDRESSES EXCEPT THE REGISTRANT ADDRESS, Neils?

@GorillazJoe - Of course if the domain is less than 60 days old, you will not be able to transfer the domain. Push is ok (because it's not a change of registrar)

You can say that if you want to. I don't bother because when the domain is transfered they will all be updated to my information. It's optional to change the other admin, technical, and billing contacts.

Orait. Now I have a very clear view regarding Godaddy and Bynabot transfering process + some trick for Dynabot. :)
Thanks for all reply.. :great:

@neilsencl - But isn't that the whole point. If you change any registrant details (even a point to a comma) the domain is blocked for 60 days by GoDaddy. You are claiming you can change the Registrant Details and not have the domain blocked. That is untrue. It will be blocked and you will have to ask GoDaddy to unblock it, if you change the Registrant Info.

At Godaddy, you CAN change the email address of the registrant and avoid the 60-day lock. As far as I know you are correct, if you change ANYTHING else the domain will be locked.

I just changed the registrat email on one of my domains to make sure I remembered it correctly. You can change the registrant email address and there is no warning about the 60 day lock. Sorry for any confusion. :)

Like I said, if you don't change any of the registrant information you can transfer out the domain, but you need the help of the seller, since their email address will still be listed. But if you change the registrant email address, there is no lock and YOU can approved your own transfer, which is nice.

Hey, that must be something new. Nice to know :)

I just checked with my GoDaddy Account Manager. This is what he said...

You have to change the actual owner of the domain to flag the hold. So only changing the first name, last name, or company name will flag this.

This is certainly a change from before because I remember changing the address and triggering this 60 day hold. Glad to hear they've come a little bit to they're senses over this.

I suppose it mainly depends on Registrar's terms of service. try to contact your Registrar directly and see what they will answer you.
