Sedo fees - Very misleading

First I was shocked to find out that a domain I'm selling has a $200 minimum fee, even though all Sedo has to do is check a whois URL to see if the transfer has been completed. However I shoudl have checked first, my fault. But then the fee became 200 EUR not dollars since the price agreed was in EUROs. Not cool at all and support didn't budge, even though their website clearly says that the fee is $200 not $280 or what 200 EURO are.

In short, be careful.

Really? My experience is 60$ minimum and 15% or 20% depending on the offer coming from Sedo itself or a partner ( like GoDaddy f.e. )

Some ccTLDs carry a larger fee.

Sedo does have a fee schedule, but you need to hunt for it. Under the "Sell Domains" tab, You will see "Sell Domains Overview." Click on that. Scroll down, and click on "price list" (tiny letters).

Scroll down and click on the link in the 10% box. This will tell you the domains that are eligible for the 10 - 15% commission. If your tld is not on this list, then it's a minimum of $200.

But I agree that this info should be more prominent and easily accessible.

Fine, as I said I should have looked BUT then it's not even $200 it's $270 since they charged me 200 (in currency used) https://www.google.com/search?&q=200+euro+in+dollars and they wouldn't budge even on the phone. I sold for EUROS and they charged 200 EURO commission. Sucks.

The same for a .com name where $50 commission becomes 50 EURO. .

It's the money and the principle, especially on the $200 one.

Yes Their commissions suck a lot from our income..sometimes I had to refuse offers because their commissions would have taken all my profit. I think Afternic might be cheaper.

Their fees for domain sales are expressed in percentages.

If you sell a domain for 1000 euros, that equals approximately $1350. The Sedo fee is therefore higher but proportional to the sales price.

I'm actually agreeing with you, nothere.

Their price list is buried AND unclear.

Maybe if enough sellers complain, perhaps Sedo will be clearer.

Before you click the 'Sell domain' button, there is a clear breakdown of their fee and how much you are getting net.

The price list can be found in the footer on their website. Not hidden/buried more than at other places imo.

their website clearly says that the fee is $200 not $280 or what 200 EURO are.
Where ? Link please.

The sale price was for a name NOT in their sales network, so 20% or what they charge for what you sell via their listing does not apply. A private agreement was reached, this was just escrow.

So only the minimum fee applies given that 3% is much less.

"Sedo offers domain transfer and escrow service for sale agreements reached outside of Sedo's Domain Marketplace for domains not listed with Sedo.

A fee of 3% of the agreed price (a minimum fee may apply) is billed to the party who submits the order for the service. Sedo may assist the buyer and seller to each pay a portion of the fee upon request.

Alright I see what you mean.

You sold a domain in euros, a commission of 3% with a minimum of $200 should have applied.
But instead they charged you 200 euros.

Now I have a question. You account, is it with Sedo US or Sedo Germany ?
The price list on sedo.de is in euros.
So it's like two branches of the same entity but different currencies and fees.

You are quoting sedo.com but I suppose the prices listed apply to US members and you are from Europe.
Just a guess.

I once sold a domain in euros (the offer had been done in euros). The commission was also in euros. I was ultimately paid in dollars.

My point: Sedo seems to determine minimum commission using the specific currency used by the buyer.

But it's not clear on their site.
