Sedo parking page misleading buyers

I saw a domain name that is parked with SEDO and I click on link "BUY THIS DOMAIN - The domain .com is for sale by its owner!

I then land to a page that is a sedo page with a text "asking price $200" and next to it : "enter your bid" (Why bid? it's the seller asking price!) so I enter $200 as a bid.

Definition for asking price: the price at which something is offered for sale.

In small it is written at bottom:
* This domain name (.com) without content is available for sale by its owner through Sedo's Domain Marketplace. ** Any offer you submit is binding for seven (7) days. Please note that all offer/counteroffer prices are inclusive of VAT (if applicable). No additional taxes and/or VAT will be added to the final price on completion of negotiation

If I do understand, my submit is a bidding within 7 days. Isn't this ridiculous for a seller asking price?
Now I have to block my $200.00 for a week just in case he reply OK.
Worse, seller can totally ignore your bid by not replying or outbid the asking price. What a waste of time !

I've contact Sedo support and here is their replied:

"Thank you for your email.
Sedo GmbH does not own or sell any domains directly, but provides a marketplace for buying, selling and parking domains. The domains are listed by their owners.
I can confirm that this domain has been listed for sale on Sedo. The seller has set a suggested price and minimum price of200 USD for this domain. This means that the seller is not required to sell the domain even if your offer matches their current list price.
You can wait until the seller responds to your offer. Please also bear in mind that sellers are not obliged to respond to offers made on their domains although we encourage them to do so."

So Sedo definition of "Seller asking price" is what I've put in bold above" : a suggested price and minimum price of200 USD

WOW, my english is really really bad :( I don't understand what is a "asking price", sorry.

I think they should have a min bid price and a buy now price and not mislead buyers!

If I have to sell my domain at auction on Namepros I'm sure that they will move my post to fixed price if I post a domain for sale with an asking price unless if it's an auction with min bid and a bin price witch is the asking price.

Yeah and I'm not surprise to see you as the only reply to my post.

;)

Well it was rude i am sorry but just as a joke i did it...

When we come to your post, asking price is not something really definitive like i always have 100$ as asking price on sedo just to get some bids and make my domains more visible to buyers ^^

Agreed. If I send an email to an end-user and ask for some amount and the buyer replies back with "Let's do it!" and I'll reply back with "Sorry, not enough.", I never see that buyer again.

Wait guys, this has always been on Sedo, someone can list their names with a buy it now or they can list with make an offer. So someone now has a $200 offer, they did not say my name *****.com buy it now for $200. This is not new, when someone lists make offer, they usually reply back with a counter offer or they can accept the offer. But that is not new on Sedo. Not everyone lists names on Sedo with a buy it now.

We have a section here on Namepros called Domains For Sale - Make Offer, if you offer someone $200 for a NNNN.com they are not going to post sold. I will agree it is nice to have some range so you are not wasting your or their time. If someone wants min xx,xxx they should let people know they have an expectation. On Sedo people don't do that because number of bids matters to some. There was a VC who wrote an article one time who said he used Sedo, he only looked at names with previous bids when he was looking for a new name for a new start up business. It can be frustrating waiting I understand, this business is different from most.

Of course you will never hear from them again. They'll think you're nuts. Asking for a price, and then telling them it's not enough without telling what enough would be. But OP failed to understand this was a Make Offer sale with a Minimum Offer price. Not a Buy Now price. Most sales venues have both Make Offer and Buy Now auctions.

I do agree if it says make an offer and min is $200 but not "asking price".
They must change the word "asking price" to "make an offer" then put min offer is $200.00

So now that I understand that it's a make an offer I can spend my $200 on other domain and don't waste my time to get a response.

@stevetata - Your offer is binding for 7 days. If the seller accepts your offer you are obligated to buy the domain.
