Sedo escrow transaction from hell: Sedo rep's ineptitude

An awful Sedo 3-week escrow transaction (where I was the buyer). Take note if one Erich Mueller is your transfer agent. He is slow and unresponsive. This transaction should have taken about 2 days, but instead drug out for about 3 weeks.

  • He failed to answer my question of why Sedo charges a 3% commission fee when using Paypal (despite the fact their cost is most likely only 1.9% based on their monthly volume).
  • He failed to timely communicate with the seller (e.g. getting the EPP transfer code) and then back to me about a transfer of the domain.
  • He failed to contact the seller and explain how to expedite the transfer despite repeated requests to do so.
  • He arbitrarily pushed the domain to me at the current registrar (a GD reseller) which now forces me to wait another 60 days to transfer the domain.

Note: This isn't a bash Sedo thread, more of a bash an inept Sedo rep thread. I should note I've dealt with another Sedo rep who has been fabulous in this process, so I don't think it is a systemic problem with all Sedo reps.

EDIT: After I posted this thread, I was impressed with the way Erich improved his service. I also received a call from another Sedo rep looking to help with the situation. I have left the heart of my post as a frame reference for others; however, I now am very content with the level of service I am receiving from Sedo.

I've dealt with Tom Fell on several occassions. Absolutely outstanding service. One one transaction he even gave me a phone call to let me know when the transaction was complete.

I've had problems with Erich Mueller myself. I seemed to receive a lot of "copy/paste" email messages from him and very slow responses.

Erich Mueller

worst sedo rep ever....

i had to tell him how to create a new account at a domain site and talk him through the transfer process but didnt understand?? never did complete the deal after 7 weeks...

I have had to work with Erich before and found the process to be unnecessarily slow as well. The buyer paid for the name, sedo confirmed having the funds, and I pushed the name into the sedo account. About a week later, having received no updates and seeing no progress, I contacted my account rep and the process was completed that day. I still think Sedo is a good company to work with, but maybe they should get Erich an assistant to help him.

Interesting...

I've had decent experiences with Eric - we have had some hits and misses, and of course I have no way of knowing complete details on many "misses", but all in all I have been quite pleased with his attitude and forthrightness.

I always seem to get Tom and Eric - are there other options for those that might have a higher volume in sales than I?

I have just used Kai recke for my Sedo sale, and found him to be very responsive, helpful and he always kept me in the loop as to where we were with the transfer.

If anyone else gets him,he is pretty good :imho:

I'd say SEDO needs some serious competition. And not because some REP is bad. They have tons of other issues as well. I think they're sleeping on their lack of competition. They need a wake-up call.

Sedo sucks, we can push these a-holes out of business, they've got nothing, there's no value addedd, they sit back and do shit.

My last escrow was with Tamara Lajesic, she was fine -- always answered me within 24 hours. I wish the transaction could've gone more quickly, but that largely wasn't Sedo's fault.

ripley.

You are not benefiting the community with your repeated posts demonstrating your hatred of Sedo. This does absolutely nothing for your professional image and you are not hurting Sedo's feelings, I promise you. Please cut it out.

Unfortunately, of course, we (and you) have know way of knowing if the slow timeframe has anything to do with Eric, or if it is rather the seller's fault.

i had tom and had very nice fast service and fair point it could be the seller though unlikely if this many people have complained about him IMO

Son of a b*tch! I just purchased another domain from Sedo and I have been blessed with Erich... Let's hope this transaction goes better than my first, although I'm not holding out much hope considering this is my third transaction with Erich and my first two haven't been great.

Perhaps Eric is assigned on purpose on this transaction so he can prove he can do better, or worse D-:

Good luck though Fonz :tu:
