Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Hello,

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. We understand that our explanations may not have been sufficient to address your questions.

Due to the complexity of the topic, we kindly request that you reach out to our support team. Our support team is better equipped to provide a more detailed and personalized response to your question.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation and hope that we can provide a satisfactory solution through our support via [email protected].

Best regards,
Your Sedo Team
While it's good that you have offered for @carob to reach out to you, it's a shame it's so hard for it to be described in the first place. I'm sure all here would like to know what 'Uniques' refer to. If we all reach out to support for personal discourse, it's going to put an unnecessary load on your support team. It would be so much better if it could easily be described to everyone. And since this is apparently very complex, it seems the system itself needs to be improved upon first.

Oh, and is this really the support email?...

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. We track "offer views" when someone visits the offer detail page of a domain, which is typically the case when a domain is set to "make offer" or when someone uses our Sales Lander, parking, or clicks on the sales link to the Offer Detail Page (ODP).

When you switch your domains to "buy now", the buyer is taken directly to the buying process, bypassing the ODP. This is a deliberate design choice, as we've found that it can actually boost sales by reducing distractions and streamlining the buying process. In fact, our data shows that about 75% of sales on our marketplace are made through the "buy now" option, compared to negotiation.

Unfortunately, this means that we can't provide "offer views" information for domains that are set to "buy now", as there is no ODP to track views on. However, you can still find valuable insights and metrics in your domain report, which can help you optimize your sales strategy.

Best regards,
Your Sedo Team

Hi @Sedo - Following up again on this "domain report" you are referring to and how you access it?

After dan buy out, I migrated to sedo, because I have lots of issues with godaddy/afternic. It went smooth for a few transaction, but they can't compare with dan on most things. Recently, I had a transaction that made me think about moving my domains again. I'm thinking about spaceship, atom or efty. I wonder if some of you, if you worked more than a few years with sedo, if you had this situation. If you transfer a domain to the buyers registrar and the whois is hidden and the buyer doesn't confirm that he had received the domain what will happen next. By what sedo is saying, they need buyers confirmation to release the payment. Without confirmation, they will keep the money indefinitely? So, you will loose the domain and the money as well?

Thanks. In this case, is a cctld and the whois is public, but they said that it doesn't match the email which she used to open the sedo account. Also, she doesn't say that she didn't received it, she is just not replying. The domain is a cctld, so the email is from registry, saying that I'm no longer the owner, doesn't say where it gone. Anyway, it's a xxx sale, so I'm not worried about this one, but I asked them a few times what will happen is he denies receiving the domain and they avoided the answer so it made me thinking.

It's been a while since my last SEDO transaction. For all my sales/escrow transactions using SEDO, I think my name was pushed to the SEDO account first. That way SEDO knows you have delivered the domain name. Has that policy changed, and now the seller actually transfers the name to the buyer directly?

Problaly for com ia mostly valid, but for cctls not really. If the buyer chooses to transfer the domain to their own registrar, they will need confirmation from buyer if he received the domain, if he decides to lie, they will start investigate, but exactly how they will decide, they keep it secret, I could not get a straight reply. Even for .com, if the buyer wants the domain to a certain registrar, I don't think they will choose first the push to their own registrar to keep it locked for 60 days.

I have had this happen a couple times. Normally sedo would state that after 10 days they will close it out and pay you. See if you can confirm this with your transfer agent.

Even if the buyer will say that he didn"t received the domain?

Most of the time the buyer in this case will say nothing...meaning not confirm. Go silent....Then sedo will proceed in 10 days. I have never had one come back and say they did not receive the domain.

One good thing about Sedo is they have fast payouts.

Weird sale today

Buyer bought on Sedo first. Sedo put a hold and asked buyer to create a GoDaddy acct (not sure why). Buyer then saw name at Afternic - bought it there 50 min later. Sedo released hold (not sure why). Afternic Fast transferred it. Paid 30% via Afternic instead of 10% at Sedo.

What sort of decision making was this by Sedo?

Maybe SEDO was going to have you move the domain to their GD Account, and then they would PUSH it to the buyer's new GD Account.

Side note: 30% at Afternic -- do you have BOOST turned on? With your nameservers NOT pointing to AN, you might not gain much with BOOST turned on

But they released the hold. Why would they release the hold? That blocked Afternic from selling it. @Sedo

As for NS - I only have 2 NS pointing to Sedo. And both are foreign women first names (which goes to Sedo's market not Afternics)

And of course, even though this was Sedo's fault, I got the message stating "this cancellation was not the fault of Sedo". But of course, it was the fault of Sedo! Sedo pissing me off today

How does SEDO hold the domain name and block Afternic from doing the fast transfer? I'm missing something about the "HOLD" at SEDO

Hi

it looks like sedo canceled transaction because buyer purchased at gd w/ft
it’s more of your fault than sedo because of duplicate listings.

I had similar but buyer offered at unireg and then started a LTO at dan

they paid 5 months then cancelled.

Congrats on your sale though!

imo…

@Sedo
Why doesn't your congratulations email and/or Transfer Agent's first message (which is not exactly short) include the following reminder:

"If you've listed this domain for sale on multiple marketplaces, please make sure to remove those listings right away, to prevent duplicate sales from happening."
(👆from Afternic's congratulations email)

We are grown ups. We should know to remove the listing from other marketplaces if it sold.

Knowing and remembering are two different things. A reminder never hurts.

They are mostly stating the obvious anyway, such as
"Good to know: The complete transaction process may take several days. Rest assured, we are working hard to ensure you receive your payout soon!"
