Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I don't know how they work with Make Offer domain listings, but for offers in Buy now, it s crystal clear.

"Current Buy Now Price"

And this price change is permanent.

Sedo once explained it to me like this: these are one-time offers valid for 24 or 48 hours. You either accept them or you don't, but then they expire. Counteroffers are somehow ignored by the other party. The procedure is a bit strange...

When did this change take place because I don't even have a Details column in negotiations from early to mid June.

This "every offer is a permanent BIN" format is obviously being done so they can streamline the process, increase (lower-priced) sales and get away with more automation/fewer employees.

When you have your listings set at buy it now with the ability to accept offers, the only way to let this "buyer" know you are willing to engage is by lowering your buy it now price. They get notified of the lowered price and can act or not. The buyers offer is still valid for 7 days.

I wish they would add the ability to send buy it nows that have received an offer to auction as well.

It would be nice to have the buyers location and the ability to communicate with them.

Then Sedo has a pretty bad system, as I've never seen a marketplace that automatically lowers the global BIN as per each and every counter offer.

And if I'm a buyer I'm not happy either, as someone else could snatch up the domain I'm negotiating on, at 'my' price.

Hi

you can also increase your price as well

imoโ€ฆ.

Hi

price change is done manually by the seller, not automatically

it's not that hideous. Someone makes an offer on a buy now domain. Seller indicates price they would sell at by adjusting. And yes, all previous bidders are notified if you decrease the price.

Come on, this entire conversation was started because a Sedo seller made a counter offer specifically for a 10% commission buyer, and then a new 20% commission buyer jumped in and bought it.

Do really think that is right or ethical?

I'd be mad if I was the seller and I would be royally pissed if I was the first buyer who got shafted. This new system effectively screws the entire negotiation process and ensures nothing is sacred.

Even Afternic doesn't pull that crap.

Everyone that lists there know there is a potential of a partner sale which equates to 20% commission. If it was me, I would have known that was a possibility. I wouldn't have been thrilled about it. But that's the way the system works.

Hi

looks like youโ€™re throwing rocks just because you can.

thereโ€™s nothing new about how it works, as Iโ€™ve taken advantage of for years.

sold a name there last month after lowering BIN price.

Personally, I have been at Sedo for years and had no idea about their "every offer or counter offer automatically becomes a BIN price" policy.

No other marketplace (to my knowledge) automatically does this while you are negotiating with a potential buyer. For me, any negotiation should be between the seller and the potential buyer, not the world.

Maybe not, but I have never heard of this before and I can't find this policy outlined anywhere on the site. Do you have a link to the support page at Sedo so I can understand exactly what's going on here?

And exactly how is "lowering the BIN price" taking advantage of this Sedo policy? We're referring to coffer/counter offers in open negotiations automatically becoming the "new public BIN price", not lowering a BIN to attract new buyers.

Or did you mean to say "I sent a lower counter offer to Buyer A, hoping it would attract other buyers to hit the BIN".

I've been using sedo for 20 years, sold and negotiated many domains and it's also the first time I hear about it. Maybe it's how it worked all these years but it's so counter-intuitive that I never even noticed it or wondered about it. Negotiations are private by nature and should not be visible to other parties, let alone accessible.

Exactly, and how do you think the buyer felt when he was about to accept the counter offer, then realized that some other Joker stole it out from under him for the price he was offered?

As a buyer I would never assume a negotiation would be made public, with every Tom, Dick and Harry able to see the new offer prices every step of the way.

It's a pretty insane policy that seeks to raise Sedo sales at the expense of both parties in the negotiations. In this case, the seller is mad he's being made to pay 20% instead of 10% and the potential buyer is likely ticked off that he lost the domain to someone else.

I've just realised I've never known this was how it worked because I always listed domains without BIN, so maybe it works a bit differently with these. Only last month or two I begun setting BIN prices at sedo, as a part of cutting ties with afternic, and since then all domains I sold were BIN, no negotiations. So I guess that's still ahead of me, good to know!

Hi

go to > My account > general settings

Buy Now domains

Enable bids on Buy Now domains. < enable that option

scroll down and view other options, then save.

by doing this, it allows you to take offers on BIN priced names and only pay 10% when using sedo NS
below is link to pricing
,https://sedo.com/us/what-we-offer/price-list/?tracked=&partnerid=23481&language=us

in My Domains section, if have any "offers received" that were BIN priced, then this option will show:

Option A: Change your Buy Now Price

Change your Buy Now Price based on pricing information from incoming offers

Buy now Price: USD

Your updated Buy Now price is binding. It will be valid for sales on both Sedo's Website and via the SedoMLS Promotion Network.
All previous bidders will be receive an email when you update your price!

imo....

Hi

Yeah, I have make offer option on my BIN domains, I just never realised that my offers in negotiations change the BIN, because I didn't have BIN before. ;) But I actually see this for domains that have BIN now, so I see what you mean, thanks!

Not sure you understood my request as I've been using Sedo for years, but I am looking for a SEDO HELP or SUPPORT PAGE that outlines exactly what's going on and potentially other things I may not be aware of regarding their BIN pricing policy.
