Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Hi all

For the last few responses about the third name server. I have forwarded your recommendations on.

Thanks Chris

When a domain sells through @Sedo, how long does domain transfer typically take, please?
Hi Vivere,

Thanks for your post.

Typically the transfer takes between 3 and 7 business days, if you need a more accurate time frame for your transfer, just reach out to the transfer agent in the Transfer Centre tool within your Sedo account and they will give you a better idea of how long it will take based on your transfer.

All the best
Chris

I've seen push transfers to Sedo's holding account accepted at Porkbun even the same day, even on Saturday. Payment to me followed on Monday.

Thanks for your response.

I sold a domain via Sedo. It is/was a small sale (approx. $1.8k), but I was excited because it was my first Sedo sale, etc.

Over a week later now, Sedo hasnโ€™t been able to complete the domain transfer let alone proceed to payment. Sedo support has said the buying registrar is having difficulty restarting* the transfer, theyโ€™ve said theyโ€™ve prompted the registrar a few times, and theyโ€™ve also said they canโ€™t verify what the issue is.

In short, it looks like the sale has been bungled and will be cancelled. And my excitement has given way to disappointment and more.

* restarting the transfer --- I mistakenly rejected the first (auto) transfer-out of the domain from my registrarโ€™s end, but I provided the Sedo team with the auth code immediately after.

From your description I gather that the automatic systems are now a bit confused by the initial rejection. This makes it a somewhat less common case. Nevertheless, it is fair to assume that Sedo should then work with the registrar to get this back on track. Sedo should continue to work on this with priority, and not cancel the sale.

Yeah, the MLS automatic transfer failed because of the initial rejection. But I shared the auth code with them immediately after, so they could initiate a manual transfer with it. And I'm not sure why this part has been difficult. AFAIK, the buying registrar isn't experiencing general issues with transfers.

I'll use Afternic as an example here: Sometimes, their buggy Fast Transfer system fails and interrupts the automatic transfer of sold domains. When that happens, one simply sends them the auth code, and they initiate a manual domain transfer with it. I've done so more than once, and it didn't take this long to sort out.

What am I missing here?

Is it possible that a new auth code is needed after the initial rejection? I'm not sure but I suspect that the first one might be toast.

I generated the auth code after the rejection. They haven't indicated that there's a problem with it, but you could be right.

After I shared the auth code with them and prompted for a response, Sedo sent me the following the next day:

"...We have informed the buying registrar/MLS Partner yesterday to restart the transfer and received an Auto Response in regards to a ticket that has been opened on their end.
As soon the buying registrar has worked on the ticket and restarted the transfer, they will inform us so we can let you know"

Followed up the next day and received this:

"... We have reminded the buying registrar today to restart the transfer asap.

Sent a reminder the day after. Received the following 2 days later:

"... We have been informed by the buying registrar that they have forwarded the ticket to the correct contact person. We have asked them to restart the transfer as soon as possible.

Some more back and forth... At some point, I asked why a manual transfer wasn't being pursued. They said this:

"... We've already asked them to start the transfer manually, and sent them the auth-code separately to do so. We're afraid at the moment we can't verify what the issue is, and we hope to hear back from them today.

Followed up today, and they said this:

"... We reminded the buying registrar again to start the transfer with the provided code until Friday, 4pm at the latest and to let us know when this has been done.
In case the transfer is not in pending transfer status /we receive not a response that the transfer has been started until Friday, 4pm, we will let you know and ask you then to lock the domain for transfer out at your registrar so the transfer can be cancelled.

I'm confused. Why does a ticket have to be sent to some contact person at the buying registrar? Shouldn't the marketplace (Sedo) take charge of the domain, i.e. transfer it to its own account at the receiving registrar with the auth code the seller provides, then push the domain to the buyer/the registrar's account? This opening a ticket at the buying registrar --> having it forwarded to the "correct contact person" (whatever this means) --> waiting for a response --> reminding the registrar flow seems inefficient and strange.

Is this flow normal or is my understanding of how transfers (should) work at Sedo wrong?

Wow. I've generally had very good experiences with Sedo's handling of transfers and escrow matters.

I'm best guessing this...

When the automated transfer was rejected, the transaction shifted to manual mode. In manual mode, Sedo sends the buying registrar the auth code. They then need the winning registrar to initiate the transfer on their end. If they were dealing directly with the buyer, that would be sent to the buyer. In either case, the buyer or registrar needs to initiate the transfer so you can approve it.

It sounds like Sedo is following up with the registrar but the registrar is non-responsive thus far. That is disappointing but not shocking. When I have an Afternic transaction that departs from the norm, it can be a long time until I get a response or action.

Good luck!

Sounds plausible.

Iโ€™m bummed about Sedo's handling of this (or my reading of it), but the screwup did start from my end.

Iโ€™ll leave this alone now. Que sera sera.

Thanks for your input.

@Sedo When will this issue finally be resolved? When I go to "Your Control Panel > Auctions" and click on one of the filters: "Leading Bid", "Your max bid" and "Auction Ending" they are inneffective. When I click on leading bid it should show me in descending order (or ascending order if I click on the filters 2 times) the highest bid but instead it doesn't show the domains in order based on the filter. The same happens with "Your max bid" and "Auction Ending". When I click on the arrows it shows the domains in random order. This is very confusing for someone who has in his wishlist many domains that are on auction.

They seem to be having issues. I have been unable to bulk edit landing page settings for months. They are able to replicate the issue but not resolve it.

Given that Sedo does significant updates as often as every two decades, I'm surprised when existing features break. If any platform should be stable, it'd be the one that never changes. Generally, Sedo has been stable and its features tend to be functional.

This is the light version of our Sales Lander 15.
Hi @Sedo & Co. Which sales lander is this? Thanks.

Hi Chris and @Sedo. The second picture is what I see on one of my domains with *new* sales lander 15 selected. (Itโ€™s the only sales lander 15 I see.) Notice how itโ€™s missing all the โ€œtrustโ€ icons in the middle? (See first screenshot.) What am I getting wrong? Thanks.

@Sedo When a buyer submits an offer for a 'buy now' domain, I am unable to communicate with them to negotiate. The only option I have is to lower the 'buy now' price. Will this process change in the future? Additionally, do you have plans to streamline the transfer of easily movable domain extensions (such as .eu, .de, .nl, .be, .at, etc.) by using an automated system to transfer them to your escrow account once the seller provides the transfer code, allowing for quicker transactions and faster payouts to the seller?

Hi Molly,

Can you send a message to our support team [email protected] from the email address registered with your Sedo account including the domains in question and your query so someone can take a look at this for you and the domains directly.

Thanks
Chris

@Sedo There are bugs when sorting by "offer views".

1- When choosing the "Date Range" of "Last 31 Days" it returns all results as "n/a".
2- When choosing "Last 12 Months" it doesn't return data for names that were not on the platform 12 mos ago (my most popular name has the most views, but has only been on platform for a few mos). When choosing "Last 12 Months" it, along with many other names, do not show in the results.

Can you please fix?
