Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I must also point out, that I have searched through the recent correspondence in your Sedo account in great details and the Sedo customer service agent did not in fact send the standard text as you stated in your last reply here. In fact that response that you received was sent to you in March for another ticket.

I apologize if I got my support tickets mixed up, but as noted this is clearly not the only time this "theft of domain listings" has happened to me.

Maybe if you guys required domain authorization for ALL Sedo sellers, I would have less tickets. Food for thought.

Thanks @DomainRecap

So @Sedo, it really comes down to this one question: are there certain large Sedo account holders that can upload listings (of others) without all necessary checks being performed?

So @Sedo, it really comes down to this one question: are there certain large Sedo account holders that can upload listings (of others) without all necessary checks being performed?

I had been experiencing deletions without notice fairly regularly at Sedo. I didn't like the deletions as they were all valid listings. What really bothered me, though, was the lack of notice.

After some time, I ended up communicating with my contact there. She told me that, yes, a large account was uploading and their uploads included names that they had dropped and I had acquired. Their account manager was letting these through. My impression from the communication was that this was the amount of verification -- an account manager looking it over. My account manager spoke to theirs and requested these not pass through so easily.

It did stop.

In my case, I didn't sense that someone was targeting my listings. It was a matter of the other account(s) continuing to upload names that were no longer registered to them.

That's why in all communications I clearly state that the "domain listings" were stolen, not the domains.

See:

And although you scoff at the implications, there are very real reasons why you need to be concerned about scenarios this, front-running being the primary one. People like the scammer who absconded with my "domain listing" and then put a high BIN on it are clearly trying to make a big sale, then come to me later to actually buy the domain.

This happens all the time and I experienced it personally at Afternic whereby someone clearly received a nice offer on my domain and then came to Dan to try and buy it from me. As I'm extremely careful, I did some research and noticed that the domain was no longer in my Afternic account so I reauthorized it and a bit later I imported a new lead. Amazing. And the Dan buyer then jumped ship and closed down the transaction. Amazing.

Other reasons include potential UDRPs regarding a high BIN or aggressive communications from the front-runners that may be used against you in court. And yes, this also happens all the time.

So no, even though I clearly still own the domain, I do not want my "domain listings" stolen from me by a front-runner, and worst of all, without the front-runner needing to authorize ownership of said "domain listing".

I apologize if I got my support tickets mixed up, but as noted this is clearly not the only time this "theft of domain listings" has happened to me.

Maybe if you guys required domain authorization for ALL Sedo sellers, I would have less tickets. Food for thought.
We do take this seriously, thats why our customer service agent has been trying to find out why exactly your domain was removed from your account for you. So we can resolve it and make sure it doesnt happen again, you have been informed about this already. This is also why I have provided you with my personal contact so you can contact me and reduce the time and effort of getting a response and resolution. My last post is simply pointing this out and the fact you posted here with a statement and response that you received from Sedo which is not true and something we did not send you. So its unfair to come to the assumption that talking to customer support is like talking to a pack of mountain gorillas on meth as you stated. When we didnt even send you that email.

Have a good weekend!
Chris

Hello @Sedo Chris,

Feature request: an account-wide option in Settings to set the default Layout (Lander option) that will be active for all newly added domains.

Thank you.

And an account-wide setting to choose a registrar for all newly added domains would be lovely too

@Sedo

Does Sedo offer 2FA option?

I was checking in my account but I don't see the option

Thanks

When we didnt even send you that email.

And I will further note that I have not received any informational response at all concerning what I feel is a repeated and very disconcerting occurrence. As you can clearly see from my support record, this is hardly the first time this has happened to me.

And I think we ALL know why this is going on, as I friend of mine (a MAJOR domain investor) was offered the ability to auto-list domains from a Sedo account manager (with no DNS TXT required), so this is kind of an open secret.

In one case, a guy was targeting my listings and the same pack of domains kept getting deleted from my account, to which I added them back, and then it happened again over and over.

Chris can confirm this, and I referred to him as Mr Jamaica as his location was listed as Jamaica.

I finally got this pushed up the Sedo line and it stopped, but it's kind of insane who Sedo gives this auto-list out to. This guy was a real whacko.

Is this Chris the same as @Chris Hydrick? Whatโ€™s a girl gotta do to get some attention from Sedo? Still no response from @Sedo about my owner verification issues.
Hi Molly,

Thanks for your message, no I am not Chris Hydrick, if you are having issues verifying domains, can you please PM me and include your Sedo email address and the communication PIN. You see the communication PIN as soon as you login to your Sedo account. Once I have this info I can take a look at your account for you.

All the best
Chris

Hey Future Sensors,

Thanks for taking the time to provide your recommendation, I will certainly pass it on for you. I would suggest in the meantime you could consider using the new sales lander sl1.sedo.com and sl2.sedo.com as your sales lander if you do not want to be updating settings in your Sedo account . Then you do not need to change any settings in the Sedo account, the domains are directly forwarded to a sales lander page by simply adding the name servers.

All the best
Chris

Hey NameGroove,

Thanks for providing an improvement suggestion to Sedo. I have forwarded it on to our business development team so it can be considered when they make future updates.

Hi ArielT,

Thanks for your comment.

I can confirm that we do not currently offer 2FA, however this is something our Tech Team are working on and are looking to introduce in the future.

All the best

Which sales lander does sl1.sedo.com refer to? Are these name servers we should update to or? (sl1.sedo.com and sl2.sedo.com). Are these different than ns1.sedoparking.com? I'm a bit confused by your post obviously.

Yes, it's getting really confusing indeed. Also because of this news item from January 2024, where Sedo basically says that sl1.sedo.com and sl2.sedo.com no longer have to be used. They even call it a "detour".

(I'm now back to ns1.sedoparking.com and ns2.sedoparking.com + Sales Lander 15)

https://sedo.com/us/about-us/news-press/newsroom/whats-new-at-sedo-in-january/

Domainer's Best Choice Now Available at your Fingertips

If there is one layout that causes the number of bids from prospective buyers to skyrocket, itโ€™s Sedoโ€™s Sales Lander 15. With its clear and modern design combined with compelling arguments, this layout not only facilitates but also encourages users in making their purchase decision. The figures prove it: Compared to other layouts, Sales Lander 15 receives up to 43% more bids or direct purchases.

To make it even easier for sellers to set up and select this popular sales page, weโ€™ve made two small adjustments that make a big difference:

1) Those who previously wanted to activate Sales Lander 15 for their listed domains first had to set up the additional nameservers sl1.sedo.com & sl2.sedo.com with their registrar. A detour that is no longer necessary with this update: From now on, it is sufficient to set up only the already known nameservers ns1/2.sedoparking.com with your registrar to gain access to all available layouts and parking simultaneously.

2) You can now also select Sales Lander 15 directly in your domain management for your desired domains. Itโ€™s now clearly visible alongside all other available sales page layouts and parking layouts and can be selected with just one click. Any type of domain sales promotion or monetization is now at your fingertips! You can find simple instructions on how to set up any Sales Lander in this video.

sl1/sl2.sedo.com -> sales lander 15; lander selections have no effect (I believe)

Hi NameGroove,

Thank you for your message.

The new sales lander have their own dedicated name servers and are separate to the ns1 and ns2.sedoparking.com name servers which are used for domain monetization and the old sales landers. The sl1 and sl2.sedo.com sales lander is an improved sales lander and some issues that were found with the old sales landers have been updated. It was created to update the old lander where we have seen alot of potential fake and bot traffic. On the new sales lander we have a new anti-bot traffic service by Cloudflare. This measure will result in more unwanted traffic getting blocked and we are closely observing the impact on sales and conversion.

The new sales lander benefits are:

Works on any device: template design is accessible and responsive
Ensures conversion optimisation: State-of-the-art technology provides speed.
Converts off-topic visitors into buyers: with safety and trust elements plus variety of payment options
Includes comfortable and accessible features: layout responds to the language settings of the user's browser, light and dark mode switch
Avoids disturbances for users: Simplified user experience tracking.

To activate the new sales lander, log into your registrars account and simply set the new names servers to:

name server 1: sl1.sedo.com
name server 2: sl2.sedo.com

All the best
Chris
