Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Got hit with another "We're sorry, but Sedo cannot allow you to list this domain in your Sedo account or order services relating to this domain due to a potential conflict with the rights of a third party." So had to submit a manual request to approve. Gotta just be an AI/automated issue. Wish Sedo would figure this part out without manual checks required - but I do get they are trying to protect trademark owners and that's a good thing imo.
Hello,

We appreciate your feedback and patience regarding this matter.

At Sedo, we aim to provide a secure and compliant marketplace for both buyers and sellers. Our system and process is designed to identify domains that might infringe on third-party trademarks. While we strive to make this process as smooth and accurate as possible, sometimes individual checks are necessary. We are continuously working on improving our processes to minimize any inconvenience to our clients while maintaining the integrity and legality of our service.

If you have any questions, please don't hestiate to reach out to our suporrt at [email protected].

Kind regards,
Your Sedo Team

1) Regarding minimum success fees on Sedo MLS for tier1 TLDs, Sedo does not implement a minimum success fee. Our commission rate is 20% for sales made through SedoMLS, regardless of the domain price.

2) Indeed, the $100 minimum listing price requirement has been removed in the Dynadot/Sedo interface. As a result, you can list domains on Sedo MLS for less than $100 using this tool.
Thank you for adding that flexibility! It's nice to be able to offer a reasonable price for domains that likely have some value, but a selling price less than $100 is more sensible.

Does the requirement still exist that the seller pays the renewal fee prior to transfer, if the domain is expiring within 60 days? If so, that likely needs to be taken into account when selling domains for less than $100. Granted, that still yield some revenue for domains that otherwise might have been dropped.

Thanks, again, for the pricing limit change

Hi

if originally added via sedo, then removing them via sedo seems like logical move.

imo....
Added by Dynadot's Sedo direct listing feature. Supposedly, clicking to remove on Dyndaot's connection only removes the MLS, not the Sedo standard listing. That has to then be done directly on the Sedo website.

So addition to both Sedo standard and MLS takes one step with Dynadot. Removal from both supposedly requires two steps--although I had to do a third click to completely remove the MLS function.

Anyone else finding txt record verification just doesn't work unless the txt records were fully propagated before adding to sedo? It's like the system doesn't find the text record on first inspection then never tries again.

That's right. I always clear my resolver cache and then check if the TXT records are already there. Usually by querying authoritative servers directly. It's only when I see they're there that I start adding domains to Sedo. For some TLDs it takes a little longer, and also for bulk updates (for example, at Porkbun).

Thanks, very annoying as it slows down my listing process quite a bit!

Indeed. If you make the costly mistake of adding them too quickly, it will take ages for Sedo to finally see the TXT records, because the DNS results are cached on their end, as well.

Hi

i've always used ns1./ns2.sedoparking.com since forever and never had any issues with listings.

once name is there, then i can change to other platforms.

it's best to change ns first, then submit to sedo.

imo...

I have NS setup at domain.io that has all my verification records so I can list at all marketplaces at the same time before changing NS to whatever landers I decide on.

Problem is sedo takes ages to verify if the original change to domain.io NS had not fully propagatedโ€ฆ which means I have to constantly monitor it before I can change to my landers.

Or the other way, I have to delay adding to sedo which also ruins my flow.

Well, with Dynadot, their integration makes listing very easy.

If your registrar is not Dynadot, would it be helpful to ask your registrars to consider adding this direct verification and listing feature? Or would it be preferabe to switch your domains to Dynadot?

I have most of my names at Dynadot. But I like managing Afternic in Afternic. Plus you can't add names within 60 day lock from Dynadot plus they say it can take a few days for names in appear. And on top of all that I still have names with half a dozen other registrars.

Sedo seems to be simple to manage from the Dynadot interface., but you would need to deal with the other registrar ones directly with the marketplace website.
Afternic, on the other hand, has different features that do require direct signing in to their own website.

Hopefully Sedo can help resolve the verification delay issues soon.

Hello,
We're glad to hear you appreciate the flexibility we've recently introduced.

In regard to your query about the renewal of domains expiring within 60 days: Yes, it remains obligatory per our Terms and Conditions that the seller must renew the domain registration if the domain is set to expire within 60 days of the sale's date. This is an important step, as the renewal ensures a smooth transfer process and maintains the integrity of the transaction.

If you have any further questions, please don't hestitate to conatct our support at [email protected].

Kind regards,
Your Sedo Team

And to further clarify this matter for the NP Sedo users:

Would the renewal be automatically done through the domain's current registrar, and peformed automatically by Sedo prior to finalizing the sale and payout?

Or would the seller be alerted to do the renewal manually prior to being able to complete the transfer?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with TXT record verification. At Sedo, our goal is to ensure that the process is as smooth and efficient as possible for everyone.

Itโ€™s important to note that when adding e.g new TXT records for verification, updates can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate. This delay is often due to the DNS cache updates and the registrar's Time To Live settings. During this period, although the TXT records might have been updated locally at the registrar, they may not have fully propagated globally, which could affect their visibility to our verification system. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We truly value your patience and feedback, as both are critical in helping us improve our services. Should you experience any other delays or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer support team at [email protected].

Best regards,
The Sedo Team

Is there any way you can add an NS3 option for verification? Txt is a bit more advanced and requires more knowledge to do.

Hello,

Thank you for seeking further clarification on this matter.

As a good practice, it is advisable for the seller to check the expiration date of the domain at the start of the transaction. Itโ€™s important to note that this process needs to be conducted by the seller directly with their current registrar, as there is no automatic setup in place between Sedo and the seller's registrar to handle renewals.

Kind regards,
Your Sedo Team

Spaceship is already included in our list of registrars that sellers can select to indicate the current registrar when listing a domain. If you are experiencing any issues or cannot find it in the dropdown menu, please refresh your page or clear your browser's cache. If the problem persists, do not hesitate to contact our support team at [email protected] for further assistance
Spaceship does not appear in your drop down menu (either on the short list of network eligible or on the long list). And no not a cache issue.

You were asked if we were to use Namecheap as the registrar when it is at Spaceship, but I believe did not answer this.

I hope you will soon add Spaceship to the list of registrars as I prefer to have that information correct and not simply blank.

Thank you,

Bob Hawkes
