Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
AfternicAfternic

this is the xth time I bring it up. usually without a good reply from sedo's end.

let me try a last time:
how do you estimate the odds of bringing domainers the good news one day soon that you now charge min fee of say $20 like everyone else instead of the ridiculous industry leading (in a bad way of course) $60 you charge now?

thanks for your time.

I have just noticed this thread and more domain name services eg registrars etc should have a similar thread for fast customer service etc within np via their own thread

I have an account at sedo but prefer flippa but notice a lot of sales on dnj come from sedo etc

Can you make your brokers available to domainers so that they can choose their preferred sedo broker directly or ideally within this thread

Yes exactly, Cdomains

That is the best way.

If you did it correctly it will work out, it just takes a little time to work sometimes.

Okay, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens

Sedo used to have a minimum commission of $10 and a minimum price to start an auction of $60. I guess they decided they don't want that part of the market - the time it takes to handle low value sales may cost more than they earn from them. I think DNS charge a minimum fee of $175.00.

maybe

but that stil changes nothing to the fact that among the main and most common auction sites..afternic, godaddy and flippa ...they have by far the highest min fee... say ~300% more.. which by same token would make them the only ones to think (assuming your guess is right) it isn't worth it to them profit wise to charge less.

not sure whats the min for dns/uniregistry.. but if its 175$ then no one will bother to use them for lower value sales.. in same way people go elsewhere than sedo for lower sales now too.

Hey alcy,

I know you've brought this up several times and it never gets unnoticed. We know this is something that you and others would like to see changed. We're continuously working on optimizing our platform, but there are only so many things we can work on simultaneously. So please don't be upset if we cannot change things as quickly as you'd like us to. But be sure we're listening! :) (As you can see with the price cap)

@Sedo

Please add 2FA option to our accounts.

If our accounts get hacked and they change the price on a premium domain to $100 and it sells via fast transfer? How hard is it to get the domain back?

Why not avoid this situation altogether and add 2FA.

Show us you care about account security.

@Sedo this keeps coming up here.

This is an essential requirement today, not a cosmetic add-on, and without it you risk losing users and users risk losing domains.

Can @Sedo please give us a date for completion of this feature at Sedo.com?

How about adding some actual promotions and coupons for free auctions and stuff.

A few coupons here and won't cos you guys a cent but you still stand to profit from a successful sale.

Sedo should really consider putting some staff on during the weekends ASAP or at least have people there on Saturdays. It doesn't help either with time zones. They're 6 hours ahead of the U.S. so Friday is practically an out-of-commission/weekend day too if you get a sale in the morning. That's a 3-day standstill during the week just to get the ball rolling on a sale that was paid for immediately.

Every time I get sales on Thursday/Friday buyers and I have to wait until Monday to move things along when I have motivated buyers who paid instantly and are ready and waiting to get things over with.
At least your getting sales. Sedo is horrible

Just a heads up if you are NOT actively using Sedo to sell your domains. I don't use Sedo but I just searched for my domains on Sedo and found that 67 of my domains are currently listed for sale at the platform by other sellers.

A lot if not most of these listings were probably put up for sale by the former owners and not removed when they let the domain expire. Currently working on getting Sedo to remove these listings.

About 15% of these Sedo listings indicated that they had gotten bids in the past via the marketplace, most in the 5-10 bids range, and the one with most prior bids had gotten 15 bids. I was surprised to see just how many bids some of these domains had gotten, because some had fairly high minimum offer prices set too. Why would domainers let such domains expire?

Anyway, hopefully those bids were made before I took ownership of these domains, because if not I have lost out on leads due to these outdated Sedo listings. Just shows you how important it is to make sure you check for and make sure you get all outdated domain listings removed at all marketplaces when you take ownership of a domain (I've only been doing this at Afternic whenever take ownership of domains, as I need to get all former listings removed in order to list them there myself). So similarly, if you only use Sedo to sell domains, rather than Afternic, then you'd probably be able to find a significant amount of your domains still listed for sale at Afternic by former owners too.

Sedo promised last year that they would produce a purely "for sale" landing page without ads. But it doesn't seem to have happened.

Has anyone else received updates regarding this? I would only consider using their parking again if I can get a smooth parking page without ads.

Sure, but if you have hundreds of domains it is quite a hassle... I would prefer something similar to Undeveloped's landing pages.

yes of course
I didn't mean one by one url forward

you can use something like bodis to do mass url forward with domain as parameter

it looks like so on bodis:

https://sedo.com/search/details/?domain={DOMAIN_NAME}&tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

if you ever need to redirect elsewhere than sedo, it only takes 1 minuet to change to new url for all domains.. on bodis.

hope to help
ciao
