Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I hate the way the accumulated revenue has disappeared from the bottom of the 'my domains pages' .....why ??

Have to agree with this, although other of their changes are quite good.

now you have to select to view by revenue and add it up to get the total ?? .......truly why would you change a feature like that

They seem hell bent on driving people away .....typical change over to big business model

Funny i remember the days when parking with them meant your names were up the top of the sales display list but now if it is not .com you will never see your listings

Pity

For those using Sedo Pro parking, you can still navigate to the old Domain Parking Overview/Trends/Statistics/Optimizer/etc. page: https://sedo.com/member/parkingstats/overview.php4

From this overview you can see totals, accumulated revenue, etc.

And there is still the link (from that page) to the "traditional view" == the same exact view that has been in existence since the early 2000s. Here's that link:

https://sedo.com/member/domainparking

And of course, the new reporting is here:

https://sedo.com/member/parking_tools/overview.php

As domainers, aren't we supposed to track our URLs or at the very least check our history caches before complaining? :hehe:

Does anyone have any experience with Sedo's Domain Brokerage service that you can share? Any pitfalls? Would they be the best bet for selling a couple of premium domains or are there other options like Moniker, etc. that should be considered. I'm concerned that Sedo has such a massive portfolio of names, that getting an active "brokerage" effort out of them might be wishful thinking, and that a smaller outfit might be a better bet.

there have been discussions about the brokerage before, some negative some positive. It your way of thinking may not be too far off the mark .....surely smaller businesses try harder for success ??

is there any risk of getting scammed by accepting someone';s offer for my domain?

I have used sedo for years for parking, but never sold anything throguh them and I'm always cautious when it comes to security.

But from what I conducted from talking to a sedo employer, sedo seems even more secure than Escrow.com, and there's no "inspection period", and no real risk of getting scammed when selling a domain?

Not really. Money needs to be in Sedo's escrow before you push the domain. So no real risk. The bidder might not pay but at least your domain is secure. I've sold lots of domains through Sedo and never had a problem personally.

Just out of curiosity, regarding Sedo's Featured Listing service, approximately how many times is a domain name exposed on Sedo's home page during the 30 day rotating period?

I would agree sedo's escrow is a good option for safe transactions

It rotates with all the other current featured listings. I got about 50 views of the offer page on a good but overpriced 5 letter .Com

Most people who have posted about it have said that it is not worth the cost.

Is sedo's price suggestion tool even close to accurate?

I entered a recently aquired domain into sedo's price suggestion tool (free) and it gave me back a value of $2000 - $2999 which seems way too good to be true. Estibot only values it at $840 and human appraisals on forums have given me $xx appraisal.

All the automated appraisals are just waste of time.

You said it yourself. It's too good to be true. Why would you rely on automated software that a company that sells domains wants you to use?

I agree.. estibot is completely worthless, and Sedo's tool is even worse, it's totally out of touch with reality...

If you interested in numbers/metrics, Google's keyword tool is what to use...Just set to "Exact" for search numbers.. also, on the same page, they have a traffic estimator...this is also useful..

You can also set up any domain on Sedo.com and they will suggest the absolute minimum price they will allow for sale for your domain. A lot of domains that should not have been registered end up with this suggestion which should also be disregarded.

Estibot is also misleading. It says upto 5 domains free, but you can not check more than 1 domain. They used to have free membership when I originally registered, recently they have different plans but none of them are free.

They have nothing free beyond 1 domain.
