By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

I'm just looking at the overall numbers for the current month (Nov 1-Nov 11) vs Year-to-Date.

It could be just a fluke because of the small sample size, or it could be a sign pointing toward a vastly improved parking algorithm.

Escom Sells Sex.com Through Sedo for Record $13 Million

Online domain specialist Sedo.com today announced the sale of the Sex.com domain name for a record $13 million. The sale was brokered by one of Sedo’s senior domain brokers, Jeffrey Gabriel, who conducted a three-month search for a buyer on behalf of Escom in accordance with an order issued by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

“We are very pleased with the fact that the bankruptcy process provided a basis for the sale of the domain free and clear of all creditor liens, which has now yielded this record breaking price,” stated Del Anthony, CEO/President of Escom.

“It is very rare when a domain name of this quality and value becomes available, and we are pleased that Sedo was involved with this historic event. To our knowledge, this sale represents the single largest recorded price paid for a domain name in the history of the Internet,” said Gabriel.

Escom acquired the domain in 2006 for a then record $11.5 million. Sedo’s recent $13 million sale of Sex.com now holds the record as the largest domain sale to date, which further demonstrates the continued demand for premium domains and the increasing value of Sex.com.

I have a sale pending on sedo, it is in transfer. They have asked for the auth code, but the domain is registered at godaddy just last month and is still under 60 day hold period, so it can't be transferred out.
Does sedo allow internal godaddy push ? I have contacted the transfer specialist but no reply yet.

Yes, I think it needs to go through a "intermediate" Sedo Transfer Account though and then on to the buyers account. -At least this is what happened a couple of times in the past few months when we bought names through Sedo that GoDaddy had locked. We (as the buyer) were then subjected to a new GoDaddy 60 day lock

Tried to add 20 domains to my Sedo account and got error message saying: "Too many domains uploaded, please contact customer support!"

Despite the fact that according to Sedo itself its possible to enter up to 200 domains.

Kudos-I am finally seeing an improvement in my parking income,albeit small and way off 2/3 years ago, but at least in the right direction!

I would'nt think that is possible to do at sedo, essentially you would be trying to bypass sedo to make a sale which you can't do.

Some places are just for parking and you could do that but sedo is a marketplace and they want their cut/commision of sales done on it.

Isn't there really no sedo main/official thread?

Despite of that, my question is, how do I add domain names to sedo parking? Do i really have to certify my account (by givin out all my personal details, having to print out sedo document, sign it and fax it) or is there another way around this?

It is necessary to certify your account if you would like to begin parking with Sedo. The certification process is one of the ways we keep our marketplace secure and it also speeds up the owner verification process.

We do need to have some personal details if you would like to park with us. Please keep in mind that one of the reasons we need personal details is so that we can send out payments.

Your privacy is important to us and we do not sell or rent any personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes without explicit consent.

Sadly I was a little premature with my praise as the last 2 days have been the worst I have ever had in 7 years!

When will you guys address the awful domain search system you have now?

In many cases, there should be an increased CTR for parked pages.

Higher CTR does not necessarily translate into higher earnings. If you keep the number of clicks the same and reduce the number of impressions by not counting traffic from bots and scripts, the CTR is bound to increase.
