By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

I've tried looking this up here on the NP board and I can't seem to find the answer to this... I cannot changed the status of one of my domains from "Not for Sale" to "For sale". I've had this domain parked there for about a week and it still says I cannot change the status. All my other domains have been able to change find. Anyone got a clue to this?

Sedo Safe domains

Ok, so the results are in from my analysis of a drop domain that caused my sedo account to be closed without warning. I put up a very basic web page with only some simple text and keywords related to the domain name. No ads, no affiliate links, no links at all, in essence a dead end page. Like I had stated in my many emails to sedo, I don't really give a hoot about revenue I was just looking to sell these domains and wanted some 3rd party stats that the potential buyers could see. The only purpose of this page was to test and analyze the incoming traffic to try and learn why it was bad enough to warrant a complete closure of my account. Sadly, enough, after many many emails I have still not received one response from the 'quality control team' or whatever they call themselves and its been well over a month. So on to the results and what was learned:

Average Uniques: 5 per day -about the same as reported by sedo, sedo reported 3 per day average.

Origin: 80% US - 20% Asia/world

Browsers:
IE and Firefox 91.9%
Nokia Browser (PDA/Phone browser) 4%

Opera 1.5%
Netscape .2%
wget .2%
unknown .2%


It was interesting to see some visits from PDA/phone browsers. I never really noticed these on other domains I have owned or managed. Maybe they were there and I simply didn't notice, but I don't think so. The other thing was the visits from Asia - Japan mostly. I read on another site that sedo does not like Asian traffic and this will cause your account to be closed. Once again, its not really practical or worth it to put every single domain through the 'sedo safe test' to make sure you won't get banned before you list/park them. But if you know or have a hunch that you might be getting some traffic from either Asia or from PDA/phone browsers, then without a doubt I recommend you don't park that domain with sedo.

I hope this helps others to avoid problems and the potential of being banned through no fault of your own.

Hi,

To change the sales status of any of your domains to "For Sale" from “Not for Sale,” please visit the “Sales Overview” section of the “Domain Management” tool.

Once in “Domain Management”, there will be a second navigation menu on the lower left-hand side of the page which says “Domain Management,” just below the “My Sedo” menu. Select the second option down, located under the “Domain Management” menu, the “Sales Overview” link. You may also find the “Sales Overview” option in the drop down menu under where it says “Please Choose” at the top left-hand side of the “Domain Management” tool.

One this page you will see the “Control Panel” with the following options listed:

• Price
• Minimum Offer
• Price Option
• List for Sale

On the “Control Panel” please be sure to check off the box(s) next the domains you would like to modify. Then, from the “List for Sale” drop-down menu, choose “Yes” and select the “Execute” button to save marked changes and have your domains listed for sale.

If your domains are still pending ownership verification, or if you have recently applied for a Premium Auction Event, you will not be able to modify your sales status.

Parking companies (and many others) don't need a reason to suspend accounts, I believe.

Maybe I can get some help here, because so far my phone calls aren't being returned.

I have a CCC.com which has been at auction at Sedo 3 times since September. I STILL have not sold this name because each time the transaction is cancelled by Sedo due to security reasons.

Yesterday was the latest auction. Within hours of the auction ending the transaction was cancelled by Sedo yet again due to security reasons. As I was waiting for my call back from Erich, I noticed several of my names in my account with little red exclamation points next to them. When I moused over them I got a message saying: This domain is not for sale and is not parked. Please check your settings.

This morning I tried re-listing the names with the exclamation points next to them, I'm now getting this message when I try to re-list: We're sorry, but we cannot allow you to add this domain to your account due to a potential violation of Sedo's policy against domains that include obscene or illegal subject matter.

The majority of my names are hand reg's that were never, ever even developed. How can they be linked to something obscene or illegal???? All I've ever done with my names was park them at Sedo and hope for a sale. I don't even know how to build a website

I've tried calling Erich again this morning and still have not received a call back. I was really, REALLY counting on the money from that auction that ended yesterday I haven't lost my account, but I feel like I'm being punished here and I don't even know what I did wrong.

Erich at Sedo is fantastic!

I buy and sell quite a few domains, and Erich is one of the best reps at Sedo.

I'm always pleased when Erich is assigned to handle the transaction, which is always fast, secure, and efficient!

I gotta say, overall I'm really disappointed in the RPC from Sedo. I've had about 300 uniques over the past week on a few sites with a total of 8 clicks for a whopping .27 cents LOL Almost not worth it! that's appox .03 a click. Can anyone suggest a good referral for someting besides Parked.com?
