By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Suddenly and without previous warning, I couldnt log in my account, when entered the login/pass it said the page was available only for members, a more deep research led me to the notification that my account had been closed.

Closed without previous warning and, as far as I know, without breaking any Sedo rule at all. I didnt check my Sedo stats for some time so I am not sure when did they do it, but after checking it, I realized the domains were still parked in there, AKA they getting the clicks/profit, even if minimal.

Unless your account was closed in error, the decision for it to be reopened would be at their discretion.

my account was banned at sedo for sudden increase in traffic. but i want to tell u the its celebrity domain preetyzinta.info so when some videos or movies become popular people tends to visit more and most of the traffic from india so thats why it was less converting as per the mail but all the traffic is type in i lsot 170 euro an some day revenue so please help me to get restored my id at sedo is same as here

7 weeks transactions

I'm selling 2 fresh regged names, but both buyers don't want to have the domains pushed at godaddy, so they waited 60 days to transfer the domains to another registar (the sedo rep, iris, told me the name of that registar).

after 7 weeks I'm still wait the payment for one domains, i sent the auth code for transfer the other domain and i got a transfer request from another registar (different from what the sedo rep said). Now i'm waiting the sedo rep's answer.


Is it normal? what is the problem about opening an account at godaddy?

In the first week of May 2008, I starting receiving good ctr/revenue results from a certain domain parked at Sedo. Looked like it was going to average $3.00+ a day. Then, around June 1, 2008 till the present day, traffic reduced to virtually nothing. Today, I received this email:

Hello Sedo Customer,

This email is in regards to your domain name xxxxx.com. We recently received a notification from our advertising provider that a significant portion of the traffic associated with your domain has been deemed as “spam traffic” and is therefore ineligible for Sedo’s parking program.

Therefore, the domain has been removed from our parking program, and the accumulated click balance generated by this domain has been forfeited in accordance with our Terms of Use.

If you have any questions regarding traffic eligibility in regards to Sedo’s Parking Program, please refer to Sedo’s Terms of Use.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. We will be happy to assist you.

Obviously, a canned message. This is all the explanation a person receives when Sedo removes a domain and "confiscates" the generated revenues? Where is the evidence?

If we apply pop-unders to a name and it does not get enough traffic to earn a penny a day, will it add up over multiple days? For example, if a name is only getting 5-10 visitors and maybe makes $.003 a day. Will that name earn a penny every three days or should the pop-unders just be turned off in that case?

Did sedo just recently change they way they accept forewarded traffic?

I've had some domains setup to log traffic at my hosting account and then foreward the vistors to sedo. I was using this url format:

http://www.sedo.com/parking/domain.com
I tried to add a new domain today and it wouldn't resolve to a parked page. It resolves to a sedo help page?

Referencing sedo's site I found that they are now using this url format:
http://www.sedoparking.com/domain.com

When did this change occur? I checked another of my domains that was already setup and has been working for months. I found that it doesn't resolve anymore. I know my parking stats with sedo have been in the toilet lately and I'm wondering if this is why. How long have I been having my traffic diverted to sedo's site instead of to a parked page? Admittedly it can't have been much traffic since I didn't notice right away, but this kind of stinks...

P.S. anyone have a script or program where you can put in a list of your domains and it will automatically check and make sure they are all still going to the page they are supposed to?

I applied to Sedo Pro on the 1st of the month and am still waiting to hear back whether I got accepted or not. I used an endorsement code provided by another NP'er. How long does the approval process usually take? Thanks.

You should get a response in less than a month. I think that sometimes when portfolios are borderline, they kind of get stuck in no man's land, waiting for approval, but not being rejected. I would PM Keith, member name Sedo, on this thread. Give him your application details and he will be able to get to this bottom of this for you.

Oops, just noticed your post was addressed to Keith. :lol: Anyway, I would still PM him if you have not already, because you may want or need to share personal acount info with him. Good Luck on your application.

New Domain Parking Requirements

Sedo is implementing a few new changes to our parked domains network that will be rolled out starting this week. One of these industry-wide changes is the implementation of organic search results on parked domains. Organic searches will appear at the end of a search results page that is generated when visitors click on a related link or enter a search term. These unpaid links should improve the user experience and the relevancy of the content. Another change required of our advertising partner, is that visitor clicks on your parked domains will now open the target page in the same window.

Both of these changes will be rolled out globally and users may see variations in CTR. However, with the new Auto Layout Rotation tool improving CTR at 11% on average, this should counteract any negative effects. We are also working on several new parking features which will be rolled out in the coming months to improve your parking experience with Sedo.

It sounds like they're putting regular search results on the same page as the ads, which leaves a possibility that the visitor can click on some thing that doesn't earn you any money. Plus they are also making it now that if a user clicks on something, it will open in the same page, and not open a new once, thereby reducing the chance for multiple clicks.

Hi All,

The recent change does not affect the first page your visitors see when they visit your parked domain. Also, it will not make any difference to those visitors who click on an advertising link for a sponsor.

However, if a visitor clicks on one of the words or phrases under the "Related Links" or "Popular/Related Searches" section, or enters their own search term, the new page will display a list of sponsored ads followed directly by unpaid results that are similar to those found by using a search engine directly. Sponsored links will still be present and the most prominent.

For example, visit http://keithawhite.com, and click on one of the Related Searches on the right, or enter a search term. The new page will look about the same, except that if you scroll down you'll notice an extended section that looks a bit different (and, of course, the ads now reflect the modified search term). This new section is also discreetly marked as "Websearch Results" rather than "Sponsored listings." Don't worry, also, I won't get revenue if you accidentally click on anything.

This is a change that comes from our advertising provider in an effort to help improve conversion for all parked domains. Again, it should not detract from the quality of your onvolvement in the program.

That does'nt make any sense to me, if visitors leave the parking page by using an unpaid link then how in the hell is that going to help improve conversion ?

What is your definition of "improve conversion" ? half-changing from a PPC page to a free search engine ?


Keith, have Sedo changed their parking provider in the last 8 months because from what I can tell sedo parking page results really do seem to be getting far worse by the week ? :td:

Relevant ads would be helpful. Hard to sell grapefruit to people wanting airplanes.

EDITED: Because I am not sure what is allowed to show, the above is only an example and not the real numbers.

Why is it so low?

Believe me I dont click on my own sites, or pay others to do, so why is this so low?

I have choosen the highest paying keywords that fits to the domains, the visitor numbers increase but the earning is still the same.

When jun. 2008 started I got one click worth €0.02, now I am up to 20 clicks and it is still a total of €0.02? how can that be?

Something that would be really useful at Sedo:

An option to be able to display 500 or more domains on the same screen. Also, the option to choose this as a default. It's very frustrating to keep having to click through lists of 20 domains or having to manually choose to display 100, when even that is not really enough for people with larger portfolios.

Messing-up with Sedo accounts!

About three weeks ago I have received from Sedo Quality Management Team an Account Termination Email. With a good reason, since I was testing Sedo Pro, which did not work for me, and have moved practically all my domains out of Sedo. However, I have used my Sedo account primarily for selling domains, with over 1000 domains listed. In the meantime, I am receiving e-mail messages from Sedo to reply to offers from potential customers, which I cannot see since my Sedo account is closed! I am sure that this problem will be sorted out, but it seems to me indicative that, at Sedo, apparently the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing!

yes this drives me crazy and being able to set a default number would be great, I hate doing that every single time!
