Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I think Sedo started going bad years ago when the very company that you are promoting took a significant shareholding in them. (That is 1&1)
I know I've said it before in previous threads; but read the horror stories about 1&1, and then look at Sedo. I think some of 1&1's staff may have moved over to Sedo and applied their thinking, and lack of morals.
Regards
Ralph.

I have lived the horror stories of having some names registered at 1&1, so I agree with you. Ugh.

@Bearded Goat - At the time of my post the nnnnn.org domain was unregistered but listed in the auction. Since then someone registered the domain. Good luck to the new registrant adding the name to his auction account and having someone bid and pay at least 100 euros. I'd rather slide down a barbed wire banister into a bucket of chlorine. Regarding auction name selection and privileges, the house owns the ball, writes the rules and decides who can play, forum gripes notwithstanding. I'll take a whois inquiry out of the blue over a famous auction listing any day.

@ecalc I agree 100% regarding the whois inquiry.

At Sedo, is there a way to sort domains into buckets or folders for better management? It is difficult to manage domains.

All of my numeric.cn were rejected although they were 5 numbers but then I see quite a few 5 number acceptances.

I know the Chinese market quite well and at least 2 of those rejected are good with the right numbers and in the right sequence that the Chinese prefer, but obviously the selection committee know better!

Some 200+ names in the list now.

In general the majority are pretty awful.

It's been more than 3 weeks with zero sales page views. A first for me. Not looking good.

After over a dozen sales last year (including two dead-beat buyers), 2 sales in the first month of this year, ZERO since. Going on 7 months with not one inquiry. Maybe they're pissed at me because I chewed them out for not deleting the buyer's account and forbidding them back onto the system. They basically sided with the dead beat. Claims he press the "buy now" button so that he could ask me a question AND, oh, he put his offer price in there too. Dope. Anyway, Sedo is imploding. Its interesting to watch it happen.

Well this thread has been pretty depressing. I am looking at a bunch of names I registered at 1and1 many years ago and I've been listing them at Sedo over the last few days. I've applied for the auctions and not a single one has been selected. Also no bids though it's only been a few days. I wonder should I be moving them somewhere else? Where? Should I double down with Sedo and buy the $39 featured listing? Should I point them to my own web page instead of parking? Should I pour myself a glass of whiskey or tequila?

You are not alone, millions of domains are on sale. Unless yours are pretty good, the odds of making a sale are almost as remote as winning the jackpot.

fjfjfjfjfj.com back into live auction. one auction not enough. twice.

Well, my names are not great, but to my mind they are certainly better than fjfjfjfjfj.com. Of course I could be missing something.

I am thinking to buy djdjdj..........and apply there, seems criteria is missing in selecting domains!

I will be interested to see how many times these lots are put into auction.

OK, I have a question about Sedo and Godaddy. A few days ago, I put buildingcontent.com up for sale at Sedo for $3900 with a minimum offer of $625. Tonight I was looking at Godaddy and buildingcontent.com was listed for sale at $950! Where did that $950 number come from?

I understand that Sedo sales will be listed at Godaddy. But does Godaddy just get to set it's own price?

This name is registered at 1and1. Has been for years. So where is this $950 price coming from?

Looks like it is listed at afternic with a buy now of $950. Godaddy is pulling the info from there. Guessing old owner did not remove listing.

Write to godaddy and tell them it is not your listing and have them remove it.

There is no old owner. I have always owned this name. This is weird.

strange then... The info seems to be being pulled from afternic. Sedo names are no longer listed at godaddy.

I sent GoDaddy an email. I'll give them a call in the morning. We'll see what's up.

Very strange in this case though I am quite aware with this problem with afternic while adding names to portfolio and many time I need to fire mail to them for removing old listing so I can add mine.
