Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Has anyone been in the position where a potential buyer paid Sedo to broker the deal?

I had this one guy showing a real interest in one my domains, my price was 12K firm, his offer was first $1000 and went as high as $3500, I kindly refused and thanked him for his interest.. then came a Sedo broker asking about the same domain, he asked for a price, I replied with14K (to cover the commission) broker responds in a second email asking me to justify the price, (are you kidding me?) I replied that I didn't feel I needed too and the price was non negotiable, never heard back from him..

Then I get a email from the original buyer and he's all pissed off, asking me why the price increased, and I told him.. He said he paid for a Sedo broker because he was getting nowhere with me on the price, said he was a serious buyer, I then told him this isn't "Priceline" where you can name your own price, that was the last I heard from him... It was that good of a domain that I really didn't care if I sold or not.

does anyone know how to get a link of all ones domain on sedo:

Listing a domain on the featured section and in the description, instead of listing 100's of domains I'm wanting to just put a link with all the domains on the sedo platform for my portfolio. Basically all the domains that I have listed for sale. MY SEDO, MY DOMAINS is not what I'm referring to as that does not take one to the listing page. thanks

LOL, that is a funny story. I never understand people - they have no idea how to negotiate... why would that guy think the Sedo broker would be able to get you lower in price than he would by going direct? Does that Sedo broker hace some magic spell he's going to place on you?

I can imagine what kind of an email he sent to the sedo broker after that.
"What kind of a broker are you? you made it even worse than it already was, you were supposed to lower the price, not make it more expensive, f.u. "

Agree, it was kind of stupid on the buyers part.. Even more stupid to be stuck on $3500 which was a nearly 1/4 of the selling price.. If we were at least in the middle, I may of given in a little myself, And you would think the Sedo broker would have the negotiation skills necessary to find common ground, he didn't even try to do that.

Great!, How do I terminate my account?

How do I close it permanently so you never hijack another Godaddy domain offer and charge me 20%?

Or does Sedo operate like Facebook? where once you join, your information and domains are stored forever?

Could also be that the name (compass) really sold and it was agreed between buyer/seller to cancel the auction.
If the bid was genuine then it was not a wise decision (imo) to start an auction with 1 million dollars anyway. who would bid more for this name??
the only reason could have been "PR" (for one side or for both sides), but then why canceling the auction?
i can only think of one potential buyer who would pay this amount for this name. for them it could make sence. lets wait and see.

My Sedo > My Account > Account Settings > Your Public Domain Portfolio > Copy and paste the link

But don't get too excited. Out of my three recent Sedo sales, one went unpaid and another still isn't paid after almost two weeks. It seems there are a lot of timewasters on their platform.

I recommend giving a looksee at Domain Name Wire's analysis in a recent post about Sedo's Quarterly Profits Report. May shed some light on why customer service sometimes seems less than stellar. :!:

Yes Sedo are making less money on parking and they are cutting staff. Sounds like parking elsewhere pays better - so is parking in general down or is it just down more at Sedo, or just down at Sedo? Are more domains being sold via other channels?

Recently I seem to have a lot more page views at Sedo. Is anyone else finding this? If not, I'll be happy LOL because it means my domains suddenly get more typeins. But I suspect they are just counting pageviews differently.

I wouldn't complain... my sales are often very slow to complete, but I put that down to the purchasers being end users - and they pay retail prices = more profit :)

I have applied for a Sedo Featured Listing (paid), listing was featured earlier for 4 hours however now the listing is no longer on. Any ideas why could this be??? sedo closed at the moment for me to contact.

does sedo have a call center that takes calls or do they only have Live Chat. If they have a tel no. please could someone give it to me. thanks

MLS is detrimental to yr business

Since I converted my portfolio to MLS, I didn't sell a single name.
Prior to that I used to sell names almost every month.
MLS is detrimental! _\|/_

for the people who are selling domain names or have sold names on sedo, are you promoting your domain names to either a category or homepage feature? I have had my entire portfolio on sedo for almost a year and have not had one sale. Also, there are averaging <1 view per month on my listings.

The reason is there are millions of Domains listed at sedo and most are crap. Category/Homepage/etc. Features won't help in most cases. Don't know what type of domains you have but consider checking your domains and see if they are wise choices and sellable at all (specially for passive sales at domain marketplaces with huge inventories such as sedo).
Compare the number of sales, number of Domains with bids in the weekly auctions, etc. to the number of listed domains and calculate the chance of selling domains at sedo. Ist almost Zero.
