For those of you who are parents, I'm looking for some feedback on the Categories &
the Forums within Categories. This is my second cut based on feedback elsewhere, and probably still far from optimal. May just be too much information for this sort of forum. As far as the color scheme, yep that has to go.

Yes, i agree, the backdrop is BY FAR too intense, tune it down some.
Great idea with a vast array of topics, nicely chosen.

You are currently "just" presenting a forum, make it yours - own it. present custom images, use the space on the sides, be subtle about it - but use it.
Think about where you're coming from, what is significant about Seattle and pertains to parents/moms? I'm not from there, you on the other hand, should know "the scene" and the mothers/parents. How many moms have you talked to in the development of the topics? No one knows better than the actual moms that you're catering to with this forum.

It's a neat idea, custom for your city, which should make for an interesting playground. Also, the classified section is a good idea.
Make sure that OB-GYN nurses know about your forum, Kindergarten teachers, social service employees, etc. they will deliver the message that this forum exists for you.

Changed Colors

Sort of neutral browns for the default skin at least.

Hi, have visited your forum, wouldn't call that colour neutral brown, it reminds me diarrhea, lol, sorry, but I'm a mom with a 4-yera-old kid, I think some brighter colors would do better here, your site should inspire tired parents, teachers and educators to resume edocational process, help them to relax and socialize, so use color therapy, bright green, yellow, just play with colors. As for sections, they are really good, but I couldn't find anything about indigo kids, waterbirth and waterbirth babies, alternative education, home-based education, Doman, Montessori methods, developing your children creativity and all that stuff. Make a section for parents' socializing. probably, even single parents' dating...
