I'm aware. But Porn is the category killer name not Porno. Porno is worth high six figures maybe. Schwartz found a way to milk the buyer.

Porn is the category killer in English but as someone stated earlier... there are more languages besides English.Porno is the Spanish for Porn and just FYI... Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world(413M speakers) after Chinese. So yes, this domain is worth 7 figures(5M+)... Selling this one for six figures is plain stupid.

Wow, great sale! Congrats to Rick. Cheers!

Sidenote: I hand reg Pawrn.com as this was the dictionary suggested pronunciation of porn. Just for fun.

That's a great sale and I'd say Rick came out just fine on it..I wonder which adult company bought it.

i would think httpporno isn't exactly worthless as you will still get some type ins. It has no resale value really but chances are could pay for itself.

easy to say that as long as you don't own such a name and don't get offers in the millions..

i rather bet all my money on it that anybody else except for Rick would have sold this domain way earlier and for way less already to some enduser.. probably for a million, and never looking back..

We get to hear such impressive sales from him only because he is in the comfortable financial situation (since having sold Hotels.com for 4m early on) of saying no to even 7 figures offers until he is in the mood to sell..

Rick did not sell hotels.com, Men.com was his $1.3 million.

Now thats the kind of retirement we all dream of eh

What do we call this? A comeback? A notice like watch out guys Rick is still here?

I think the king never left. Cant quit. Wont quit.

Bet this wont be the last headline sale from him.

I have pornochain.com guess it is worth a little more now.

Why would pornochain be worth more because Rick sold porno.com for $8m?

Because there is now a keyword reference to a price. http://www.dnsaleprice.com/
I am not claiming it is worth big dollars it is just worth more than yesterday.

He bought the domain for $42,000 back in 1997
Damn, that is such good foresight.
$42 grand, for a "silly url" in 1997, would be like paying $8Million today!
congrats to him!

Company from Czech Republic, Prague. Cant remember the name and am not logged at the moment at my DomainTools account to whois history. Anyway, buyer was listed in whois long enough to enter the whois history :) Now is private whois.

@lock I think I understand what you mean. Without wanting to rain on your parade or derail the thread, this sale has zero bearing on the value of pornochain.

You could make a new thread and see what others say. Of course I wish you the best with it

If you read the story Rick made over 10 million on this domain parked over the years so maybe the 8.8 million price tag isn't all that overpriced.

congrats to rick on selling a domain that made $10 million in income for 8;)

Proving parking income is on a gradual decline from the good old days. B-)

Thanks - I actually think it's owned by the same people who own Swingers.com

They do, this has already been covered if you took the time to read all the details.. they do also own the singular Swinger.com and many other top class adult domains..

Wow, probably looked quite a risky investment at the time, but boy did it pay off.

Very curious about all the 888,888s. 888 casino, maybe?

Or as Sirkali said, maybe a Chinese buyer with a number fetish. :D
