Type of Contest : LOGO Design for Dog Lover's and Dog Supply Store site being developed for the domain hautedog.com

Prize : $25.00 USD by Paypal to winner upon delivery of logo.

Contest End Date & Time : 9.00PM Pacfic time : 17th November 2006 (I apologize for the short time on this contest but I will be out of town on the week of Thanksgiving and the maximum time for contests is 10 days)

Size Requirements : 1000 plus pixels at delivery by email


Color Requirements : Ideally the use of Maroon and Gold colors however, I am open to other color formats. If you want to try other colors, go for it. I have no solid ideas about what I am wanting from this logo so bring out your creativity.

General Requirements :
The site will be dedicated to Dog Lover's with forums and a store. The domain extension is not required within the logo design, but the name, HAUTE DOG, must be in it.

Additional Requirements:
The winne'rs logo will possibly be incorporated into another future contest for a header and a contest for a Web design Template.

Beautiful work. I like both. I can't decide which is better. There are things in both logos that I like. I love the simpleness of the first logo but I like the flair of the second one whcih is very "Haute" :bingo: Are you able to find an image of a Golden Retriever?

Hi, here is my revision, i work'd on the dog, colors and i took the little bark lines out. At the moment i am using the picture that you provided us as an attach't file and i added the dog to a Vector Mask so if youm slithgly change the size it wont loose quality. I hope this is what your looking for.

PS: Remember that we as Graphic Designers have to do all our work with our hands because if we take too many pictures from google, yahoo, msn ect... it would not make our work original, and if the client would like to expand his company to outside the net it would create much trouble for him because of the sizing of the pictures. This is just a tought.

Copyright Issues

I totally agree with what's being said in regards to copyright material (photos).

Graphic designers work with photos that are original copies provided by clients but taking from the web can have implications if the business is using the design as a trademark, which in most cases they will.

If you do take a photo from the web written consent from the owner of the photograph is required and in most cases it is just an email and they are more than happy for you to use their photo on the basis that it is represented in its original form and that the name and date are clearly shown on the photo.

But when you begin editing/ modifying and using it to make money for yourself then things become an issue. I think sometimes we have to manipulate copyrighted images into abstract designs in order to create something relatively original.

However, it is important to develop custom designs in order to develop unique and original content that makes our prices more worthy as opposed to doing a cheap $25 logo/ header that can essentially make the website owner alot of money in the future through both the idea of design and actual design.

So to all graphic designers using this site. Raise the stakes in design and re-design.

I think most of us are aware of copyright material, whether it be photos, drawings, paintings etc....
If you intend to use anything that has a copyright or has a registered trade mark then make sure you ask the owner, if the image or whatever it is you are using has no copyright then you have nothing to worry about.
Just becareful.
