Type of Contest : LOGO Design for an Alternative Rock music site being developed for the domain abyss.com

Prize : $25.00 USD by Paypal to winner upon delivery of logo.

Contest End Date & Time : 9.00PM Pacfic time : 11th November 2006

Size Requirements : Open

Color Requirements : Ideally the use of red, white, black and grey however, I am open to other color formats. If you want to try other colors, go for it. I have no solid ideas about what I am wanting from this logo so bring out your creativity.

General Requirements :
The site will be dedicated to Alternative Rock Band promotion with forums and music download capabilities for users. The domain extension is not required within the logo design, but the name, ABYSS, must be in it.

Additional Requirements:
The winne'rs logo will possibly be incorporated into another future contest for a header and a contest for a Web design Template.

The above would possibly be good on a future web page however I would like the logo to be more (I think the word everyone uses is) brandable. I would like if it could be easily recognized and could be easily put into print to be placed on such items as clothing, keyschains, mugs, etc...

I'm looking for simple yet stylish but a little cutting edge. The guitar maybe harder to put into quick print.

I love the creative use of the guitar as a headphone on the first one. It incorporates the idea of a listening to music with thought about what people do when they download music to devices such as ipods and mp3 players.

I appreciate that you created something different with the "Y" in ABYSS. It is a great concept. The "Y" needs to be scaled down a hair. The logo is similar to the ABYSS BAR Logo which is actually a very cool logo.

I love the how you made the ABYSS Logo have a reflection. I would like it to be a bit more edgy. Keep in mind that the logo is for a Alternative Rock site.

Stealth, I am not sure if George Lucas would be happy that you are using the rebel alliance symbol from Star Wars. It may breach copyright.

EDIT: I think that looks better now that you have taken away the rebel symbol.

It is good but not quite what I was looking for at this time. I don't want to incorporate a photograph of any people into the logo.

As previoulsy discussed, I would like the logo to be more (I think the word everyone uses is) brandable. I see a lot of promise in the fonts and design you chose. However I agree with The-Youglat, religion is a powerful thing for many including me and the cross looks upside down due to maybe its porportions.

Even though I watch things like horror flicks and have a fascination with the macabre, I stay away from sites that are blatantly satanic looking. I do love the design you made around the cross. The fonts you chose are great but you might rethink the cross symbol. I don't want the site to be part of some religious groups agenda just because of a symbol.
