Color Requirements :
Take a look at http://www.restaurantselector.com/ and see where the current very simple "Restaurant Selector" logo is placed. Assume a white background. The current blue and red of the site is nice, but I would love to see some green, yellow, and purple.

General Requirements :
- The site is about finding a place to eat, so I'd like the logo to reflect that.

- You can use the slogan (or a shorter version): When you are having trouble finding a place to eat for lunch or dinner, use the selector. (example: trouble finding dinner? use the selector)

- It might be cool to have a variety of restaurant food like: pizza, subs, burgers, tacos, steak(gourmet),french fries,etc...and beverages: the classic overflowing root beer, a normal beer, a normal glass. (However, it does not have to have any food depicted in it.)

- I don't want the logo to make it seem like this is a fast food selector, but I want the logo to appeal to a college student.

Additional Information :
- I want the logo to be totally abstract, no real images of people eating at a restaurant.

- Resist any temptation to mimic existing restaurant logos for reasons of copyright laws.

Please ignore the size dimensions of the current header/logo up top, as well as the whole site in general. Also, let me make it clear more clear: The logo should have a white background(fixed this in description). I don't want the logo to have a stylistic background.

update: Please look at the site again if you looked at it earlier, I changed it drastically so that it's clear where the logo will be placed.

lauralu8900: I was trying to wait for some other entries before commenting on yours, but it is right on target. It makes me really hungry. I'd love to see some color variations for the ReastaurantSelector.com text though.

okay, i understand that completely. although, one thing that helps others see your post is by adding replies, b/c the ones most recently replied to will be at the top. i will submit some new color variations very soon.

Nice, I really like the green (& yellow on green..maybe it's the packer fan in me). If I had to pick a winner right now, one of those would be it. Maybe try one where the background behind the text is yellow and the text is green (and the border around the background would also be green).

The contest goes till October 26th though and I would really like to see some more entries.

I will be gone all this weekend, but will be back on monday. I hope to see some more entries.

my first entry

my first post...

since you said abstract, went with icons of a spoon, a fork and a knife... abstract, yet not quite. kept the "restaurant selector" text in very chez-somebody type font, while the rest is in a normal, basic font.

for those who don't get the message, implying poor design: the four icons are on buttons, and the correct answer is online, hence the mouse pointer in green.

@ apexad: i suggest you stick with as short a slogan as possible, makes it easier to remember.

$stealth: feel free to put your logo backup, just with a white background, so I can compare it.

lauralu8900: thank you so much for all the variations. That should be it, just sit back and wait till the contest is over. Packers won today, so that one is definitely looking good.

pmz: Red and Green kind of remind me of Christmas. Try some color variations like red and blue, blue and green. Otherwise I like the idea a lot. A variation with a hamburger, taco, and steak or something might look cool too. (while still keeping it simple with just 2 colors) I agree about the slogan, I was planning on reducing it a little bit as the slogan I currently have is more of a description. Lastly, welcome to NamePros! I'm glad my contest interested you and made you join

two more versions, with different colours, icons, shapes and fonts...

personally, i'd go with the spoon & fork set between the two, as it's a lot more universal. why restrict yourself to burgers & tacos ?

@ apexad: i'm posting these in a a very conceptual way... fine tuning in terms of shadows/3d, background, etc can be done if required...

pmz: blue and green looks much better. Good call on going with circles as well, don't know why but I like that better. Anyway, I guess I do agree with you on the fork, spoon, and knife in your logo, just wanted to see it with food though.

wearenotabot: hmmm... is that real food in the background or drawn? I want to be really careful about using images of actual food. Otherwise, I really like it. I had not thought to use the S twice, which is surprising, because I love that look.
