I sold this Atom Premium name yesterday, and sale now listed at NameBio. Person had made an offer some days ago, then went silent, but last night Atom reported the name had sold. So don't give up hope when their is no communication for a week or so.

The payout was super fast now going through the Atom registrar. Literally just over 30 minutes from me reading the sold email to transfer complete and funds paid out to me.

$2500
Atom Premium
(30% commission)
Inbound
Negotiated
by Atom with my minimum price level. Could I have held out for a thousand more? Maybe, but I did not want to be greedy and it is nice to have another Atom Premium sale.

Acquired on drop, found using Michael Bang's DomainDingo Brandable Drops service. DomainDingo is now my main source for finding brandable names to consider (the drop, expiring auction, and closeout brandable sections), but you still need to research carefully every name you consider. This name had been registered by 6 different people since 2008. I feel lucky to be the one who sold it.

Hold time about 3 months. It had just been listed on Atom a couple of weeks.

Was reg. at Unstoppable, quick and easy transfer out (one of my first transfer outs from them).

Name was listed at about 14% more at Unstoppable, Afternic, but buyer chose Atom. Lander at Atom, as required.
Name had been in 25% discounted Black Friday at time of initial offer.

Even with this sale, my premium brandable STR is only about 1%, so need sales at about this price range to just make a little profit. Brandable names are a tough sector in predicting which names might sell and how to price. Most brandable names held by people like me will never sell, more so than the case for keyword product/service names.

I am gradually understanding better, but still a brandable newbie. My first 3 or so years in domain names I did not venture into trying brandables at all. It was listening to the Brandable Insider podcast by Keith DeBoer that got me interested, along with interviews that I did with him and with Sten Lillieström that helped me learn about brandables.

What did I see in name?
I like brandable names that are short (like this 6L), easy pronunciation (2 syllable), and sound either elegant or lively, when pronounced. I increasingly look for names that embed multiple terms that might be suggestive for potential uses. In this case I saw words like mint, toy, in, into, int (for international) and also possibly hint at mine, with mint and toy the most important. Also, of course, itself has many connotations, as in mint the food, or to mint some product or service. Lots of potential niches for the name. Atom generated a nice logo related to a green minty leaf.

$2750
Sale is reported on NameBio with venue Afternic
Inbound, BIN, no negotiation.
Hold time 21 months.
Atom Premium
but Sold on Afternic where priced higher as required (not Fast Transfer).
Although not FT, the transfer at GD was very fast (well under an hour) and payment in less than a day. Name ended up at GoDaddy. I decided to try turning boost on a few weeks ago, and with the NS pointed to Atom, the Afternic commission was 30%.

Background:
This is a dictionary word, but not a very common one. I found the name on drop using ExpiredDomains.net. Almost every day I go through the single English word .com drops. The vast majority of the drops should never be registered, either hopelessly complex and specialized, not truly a word, or some negative connotation, or so long and many syllables no one could remember. Every now and then you find a worthwhile drop. Even though I had no offers, and the metrics are not positive (no company or organization using the term, this is only extension it is registered in, no CPC, and quotation mark search only 8k results, very low), I always felt good about this name. I thought it feels both elegant and positive and simple enough to remember. I planned to keep the name for a long time if it did not sell (had it registered to 2027).. Hope it gets used for something worthwhile.
