So, you took his $350 offer and bumped it to $1499 and they didn't hesitate? I am curious, where did you come up with $1499? Advise here on NP?

Also, congratulations! Your hooked now!!

I asked some members here how much I should counter with, $1499 seemed fair. Few hours after I submitted my counter offer, I received an email saying:

"Your asking price for FISSION.IO is higher than the $350 maximum offer amount that our client has authorized. We have asked our client to consider if they would be willing to accept $1499 USD."

The email had further instructions on how I can still accept the initial $350 offer or submit another counter offer. An hour later I received another email:

"Congratulations!! The buyer has completed payment for your $1499 USD sale of FISSION.IO"

Thanks @Tank

Woot! I made my second end-user sale recently :). But no credit goes to me. It goes to Baseballworld. The NP community is truly awesome -- so many nice and awesome people who are irritated but willing to help when noobs come to them.

It was about a month ago, I was kinda down about my domain handregs and closeout buys. Baseball comes in with a nice smile and felt bad for me so he said, "I don't do this kinda thing often, but I got a domain for ya that'll sell for lots. Want it? I'll PM."

And he did. It was K/ey/word/Planner/s.com

Like a ray of light of hope I perked up, reg'd it at GD, then promised Baseball if it ever sold I'd give him 50%. He didn't ask for anything, but I would be evil if I didn't offer him some kind of cut.

Hand reg price: ~$14, didn't use a coupon because Baseball said it would be taken soon. So I rushed.

I immediately put it on Flippa for $9. 30 day listing. $500 reserve.

3 days before the auction was over, this guy bids $200, he sees the reserve isn't met so he bids $220.

I contact him through Flippa's message system and told him what the reserve was. He said he'd meet me halfway at $350. I told him ok and lowered the reserve to $350, and he immediately bid.

After the auction ended, dude pays within 30 mins, and I do the account change. Dude was that eager. (whether a chargeback happens or not... yeah... so... eh).

After the Flippa and Paypal commissions, Baseball and I got $150ish.

Summary:
Handreg: ~$14
Sale: $350
Net profit for me: $150ish.

NP is a great community :) thanks to everyone for being great and helpful since 2004'ish! Glad I joined this forum!

Hope one day I can give back to the community!

(Hopefully we get less scammers too!)

Congrats. I'm not really suprised with the sale.
I think its not an end user sales. The name was listed for sale at namesilo, might be a domainer.

Personally, i love the name even with the plural. It was super cool handreg and have a bright future actually in the digital marketing.
imo you should keep this gem for development purpose. if not worth a while but in the future you can turn it for saas solution, which is can bring billion dollars to your head company.

$350? well, this is 2016. Everyone know the value of domains.
Thought you can get better x,xxx(i can confirm this) if you willing to be more patience and market it to the right audience.
Just my 2cent.

Domain name: Heating And AC Services.com
Sale venue: Inbound
Seller: me
Asking price: $399
Sale price: $399
Purchase venue: GoDaddy Fresh Reg
Purchase price: $8.19 plus a couple of renewals
Details: Heating And Air is a niche that I know well, having sold at least 8 other H and A names in this price range (I think all of them have been posted in this thread). I was contacted via email and quoted the Buy It Now price that I have at several venues. Since the buyer has a business that I was able to confirm I closed the deal using Paypal.

Basically, it was a matter of standing strong in my boots right from the start. Here's how the process went...

It was a young lady who first emailed me with a very brief message: "would you consider selling this domain name?" That's all there was. This strongly indicated to me that this was a VERY serious, interested party. Why? Basic human psychology. Most offers that come through ramble on and either made an offer or ask for a price right from the start. I felt this was someone who knew how to play the game -- they wanted ME to make the first move in the price war.

I decided to NOT respond to that first email to test my theory. If they WERE as interested in the name as I suspected, they would ask again soon. Sure enough, 3 days later I received another email with another very brief message asking the same question as before. I waited 2 days this time then replied with "I wouldn't rule it out, but it would have to be a very substantial offer as I'm currently using this domain for my business. Have a nice day."

The next day, an even shorter email from her: "What is 'substantial?'" I replied the next day with "I would not consider any offers of less than $12,000."

Several days later she emailed me with: "Is there any way you could take $4,000 for it?" (Now mind you, I knew I had a serious buyer on my hands at this point, and it was time to really play the game). I waited several days to let them sweat a bit and let them wonder if I dropped the issue because of their low offer. I finally replied to the lady with: "I'm sorry, but as I mentioned last week, I can't consider any offers of less than $12,000 as I am using this for my business".

She replied within hours this time (I sensed she was growing impatient) and said: "Can I have my boyfriend call you? He's better at negotiating".

Now THERE'S a dead giveaway! I gave her my phone number, and the next day I got the call from a very friendly down-to-earth gentleman: "Hi Gene, me and my girlfriend are starting a business and we're interested in your domain name. I could pay you $5,000 right now... and use escrow.com for the transaction -- I'll even pay the fees".

At this point I acted like I was growing very impatient. I explained to him everything I told his 'girlfriend', and nicely said g'bye.

Because of many things he said in our conversation, I suspected that this 'couple' were actually working for a major corp somewhere, acting as a mom & pop business.

He called the next day and left a message on my answering machine (I was expecting this would happen, so I didn't pick up the phone). "Hey Gene, we've been thinking about it and we decided we could go up to $10,000. Please let me know if we can make a deal -- call me as soon as you can".

I waited 2 days, called him back and after a bit of small-talk I said "it's been nice talking with you and I really wish you well in your new venture, but $12,000 is my absolute lowest starting point". (notice the key words "starting point"... I intentionally used those words so as to give the impression that I may even try to negotiate a higher price if you gave me time to think about it!). I got off the phone quickly, and waited for him to make his last move. He called that evening and accepted the $12,000 price. He began the escrow, I transferred the domain and I had the bank-check in hand about 10 days later.

Patience is your best friend in this business!

Gene
