I just sold a name for $2500. Although I usually do not post on this thread unless I can disclose the name, I think it would be useful to do so now, even if I cannot reveal the domain.

Some time ago I asked on the discussion section if domainers thought it was a good idea to give the potential buyer a call after having sent him a counter offer and not hearing from him in five days. Here is the thread in which I asked that question: https://www.namepros.com/threads/is...d-user-after-you-made-a-counter-offer.830810/

This is how things evolved. I had the domain listed on its landing page for $5000. Someone made a $2000 offer. I was actually willing to accept that offer, but I also know that accepting an offer as it is presented may ruin the sale, since the buyer may assume that he offered too much. So, I countered with $3900.

I did not hear from the buyer during 5 days, which was when I started the above thread. On day 10, I decided to give the buyer a call. I had done some research and found that the buyer had a very similar domain and owns a company that generates about $5M. So I infered that those elements suggested this might be a serious buyer, who had a business plan behind the offer.

When I called him, it turned out that, according to what he told me, his company was having issues with their email client and that he had never received my counter offer. I re-stated the counter offer. He said it was too much and that he wanted to stand by his $2000 offer. I stated that it was not sufficient and asked if he was really interested in the name. He said yes, and proceeded to say he could pay $2200. I asked him to meet me at $2500 and he agreed. The deal was sealed.

He has paid and the money is in Escrow. I cannot disclose the name, but it is a training-related 2-word .COM.

My gut tells me he was lying.

For me, calling is always a last resort. I would have at least sent one more email, first.

But the most important thing is you got the sale.

I just sold PrivateEquityMortgage.com last week for $1500 on Godaddy auctions. I previously sold TigerCommodities.com for $2000 to an end user as well. I held both of these domains for 2 years prior to finding a seller.
I plan on selling tigersecurities.com, tigertelevision.com and tigerpharmaceuticals.com to end users as well.

I bought it on GD Expired Auctions, and sold after 2 weeks.
No I don't, I contacted potential end-users and one of them decide to buy name.
