FX, I got an email (after I emailed them) from a suppose buyer and they ask for price. I did send them the price and also let them know that I am open to negotiation.

But I still have not heard from them since monday. What do I do at this stage? Do I recontact them? They are the ideal candidate for this name because they got the .co.uk and .net while I have the .com.

It is a real estate firm that was established 1987

it may be worth stating they were your first choice but you need to start contacting other viable options if they are not interested, hopefully this budges them one way or another

You mean that I shouldn't contact them just yet? Well, my last email to them was sent directly to the founder of the company and he was the one that replied me.

Here is what happened.

I sent him an email through my domain's email account, the one usually given by Godaddy. and he contacted me via my personal email which I guess he got through from my whois page because I left a link at the bottom of the letter.

He probably visited my Godaddy park page and also saw the email there.

I dont think that there are more interested party here because this has to do with the founder's name.

e.g hisnameproperty.com, while they have hisnameproperty.net, hisnameproperty.co.uk

Also, I have contacted some other random companies having the same or similar name. one is name.com.au and the other is nameproperty.com.au but never got a reply from them.

@jideofor: I would NOT contact them again. If they are interested, they WILL be in touch - now, or later. :) Sometimes they won't make a decision for months. The more emails you send, the less likely you will be to close the sale at a reasonable price. IMHO.

Anyways, the end users thread is probably better for these discussions, because I suspect some discussion posts will start disappearing soon :ghost:

Thanks.... I will take it there but btw, I quoted that my asking price was $1700. I don't think that's too high for them and despite that, I told them that I was opened to a negotiation. I think they are yet to make a decision on the price that's why the founder hasn't replied me.

I will just wait!

Useless and waste of time to counter to such lowballers. Minus Sedo comission you're left with nothing. I would have closed negotiations right away. Like a slap in the face. I did that once right after the first lowball 60 dollar offer, he couldn't bid through sedo anymore. few hours later received an email to my whois email (outside Sedo) with a much higher offer. The guy understood that he is wasting his and my time and that he should skip the lowball offer/counteroffer game and offer his best price to not piss me off even more. If the buyer is serious, he will find you also outside Sedo and offer much better price. If he is not serious and 60 dollars was his best, then it doesn't make any difference anyway that you blocked him. This should also work for you, of course assuming the name is obviously really good.
Good luck

I know that should have been the right way to go with such lowball offers, however, I think I got excited there for a moment when I saw that offer email  and went running to make a counter offer :bah:

The thing is...you have the option of setting your minimum price on Sedo. You can't really fault an end user for making a $60 bid when you allow them that choice.

Recent Afternic & Sedo sales as seen on Domain Name Wire:

Asian Colour Coated ISPAT LTd (ACCIL)
Current domain: ACCIL.info
Scored ACCIL.com for $1,200.

Great score for them. Exact acronym matches are important to some. SEO keywords to others, examples below

Entertainment Management (Australia)
Scored EntertainmentCasting.com for $1,450.

Marlen Research
Current domain: Marlen.com
Scored Marlen.net for $2,588.

Carolina Weddings and Events
Current: carolinaweddingsandevents.com
Scored TheBridalShowcase.com $1,477

Batteries Plus โ€“ US based company giving Duracell Batteries the squeeze
Current: BatteriesPlus.com
scored GetWhatYouNeed.com for $2,000

Evegate Publishing, a UK publisher of South East Business magazine
Doesnโ€™t own SouthEast.co.uk
Current domain: SouthEastBusiness.net
Scored SoutheastBusiness.com for $1,105

Kepro.com scored Kepro.net for $1,288

Going back to GetWhatYouNeed.com โ€“ to me, the power of branding further prove โ€œreg feeโ€ domains sometimes have less to do with selling directly to end user and more to do with strength in human numbers. Networking + Familiarity/Business Relationships = More Sales.

Head over to Domain Name Wire for the rest of Afternic & Sedo sales.

Does anyone notice a recurring theme above? Businesses will fork over the cash for older .com to their newer .net. Also, all domains are appropriately priced to sell to legitimate companies from all over the world.

Don't ask for $6000 for your domain when the world isn't buying anything in the $6000 range. It only makes you look like a) an unskilled scam artist or b) a fool.

That's a pretty sweet sale! What's the history, if you care to share and how long did you hold?

Please I will like to say that we would rather have member-only personal sale than reports from sites like sedo, afternic etc.

If you sold you domain report it here and not the other way round.

I did sell it. I listed it, I set the price and then I negotiated with the buyer for 2 weeks until we came to an agreement

An Afternic rep emailed me saying someone had inquired, I set a price quite a bit higher than I was happy with, we negotiated for couple of weeks u til we agreed.

I hate going through a rep, I would have got a lot more with a " personal touch" sale.

Anyway, happy with the end result

Nice, I might list Twazz dawt com with them. I think this domain has lots of branding potential.

Thanks. Yes, I've had no problems with them.

I love brandable 5 letter and 6 letter names.
And had quite good success with them too.
Nice Sale Mazkel.
The only problem with these brandables is that there are literally endless possibilities. So you have to search and search a lot to find those names, from which you think that exact name could also be desired and searched by new start-ups etc. too, without giving them the possibility to simply find an alternative and reg. it for 8 dollars. It must be names which are kinda unique and unreplacable (at least to some extent).
For instance i bought Fooddo . com - Now someone looking for something similar sounding could either buy Foodo or my domain. I can't think of any other alternative for a name which sounds like foo-do.
