Registering Domain + variations all at once?

I know this might not be an specific enough question,

Ok, so you feel you registered a fairly good [.com] domain name (Maybe 2 short words that make sense together). By this I mean something you think that you can develop well over a few years (2-5 maybe).

Do you register variations right away? Say the [.net] and [.mobi], [others] some misspellings, inverted order of the words, etc?

I'd just like to get a general feeling about variations on your own domains.

Thanks in advance

I just started with domain buying and that is what i did. but upon further research it *might* have been a mistake. i registered .ca .com .net. org and .info

guess it would depend on the value of the domain itself.

If it's going to be a mojor project of your then go for it,

Or if you think the names will have great value then also go for it,

I bought a package of 54 names just to get the 1 i was after then regged all the other extensions. .com/.net/.us/.org/.info/.biz (ofcourse the other name shave value also but 1 name sealed the deal for me.

It would depend on the name yes.

If you are a business and the name is for your business, it certainly cannot harm to get the other extensions too, to protect your brand, however, if it's just 'a' name, unless it's exceptional, it's probaly not the way to go when you are starting out, thats just my opinion. Others might disagree.

Too, if you have registered in the past 5 days, there is this thing called the 5 day grace period, where if you do not like one or more of your names for whatever reason, you can request a deletion with the registrar to get a credit in your account, you can then use that credit to 'test' another name/s.

Have a look at DynaDot.com - they offer this.

When you request deletion, best advice is to not leave it to the very last minute.

Happy to help.

All the best!
