hey folks. my name's joe. i pretty much spend my entire time here at namepros in the design contest forum. recently considering getting into the domain buying/selling hobby. i come with questions that you guys and gals can answer :)

okay, so i have a good idea for a .md domain name. it is available through the site max.md. this site is charging $150 for 1 year, and $275 for 2 years. Is this site overpriced? or are .md's normally this expensive? godaddy.com seems really cheap when it comes to .com, .net, .tv, etc.

the plan would be to register the site, find hosting somewhere, develop a homepage, logo, etc. then sell it. i just don't know if paying $150 would be worth it.

i've never bought/sold a domain before, so this would be a first time to me. should i instead buy a domain from godaddy for my first time?

is the selling process as easy as i would think it be? i read that domains can be "pushed" from account to account. so the person would pay me, then i would push the domain to his/her account?

i guess any advice would be helpful at this point. the above information was learned by me just tonight, so i have a lot to learn yet!

I wouldnt go for the .md at this point. Unless its a great keyword domain, i would just think up something different and buy the .com or .net or .org of the name. I would stay away from .md. If you do decide to go the .md route i think dotster might have some different pricing but im not sure.

Dotster.com is doing $129.95 a year for .md

About the selling process, yes, you are right.

Transfering domains from account to account is very simple and easy. I would agree with Peter about waiting on getting another ext. $130 is alot to spend on a single registration.

If you decide to register it, Dotster is the cheapest I could find also. I would do alittle research as to how .md's are doing and look at a few domains that have sold. I wish you look in whatever you decide!

thanks for the help guys and gals!
i think i'll take the .com route, though.

another question. is there a "waiting period" from pushing accounts into other peoples accounts? like, if i bought one, will i have to wait to sell it?

You can push it to another account as soon as you get it. There is no waiting period to pushing it to another account.

There is a waiting period if you wanted to transfer from Dotster to GoDaddy,
but Dotster to Dotster is fine.
