Hi all :)

I'm just creating a .mobi compliant site and I'd like the site to redirect to the full HTML PC version (on traditional domain extension) if visitors go to the .mobi URL using a normal computer/PC.

I only want it to show on the .mobi if users visit using a mobile device.

e.g. http://www.mtld.mobi used to/do this I think?

Is this possible to do by use of a script/code, etc?

Any advice much welcome and thanks in advance. B-)

Thanks scandiman - great link and very useful as I'd been struggling with wurfl & understanding it. :)

It works nicely, apart from two issues - one with my Nokia testing phone, I get this error:

"the id generic is not present in wurfl_agents"

And the other problem is the http://ready.mobi/ checker doesn't seem to work when using redirection scripts? :td:

Thanks again for the help. :)

Thanks everyone for the links. :)

I suppose the question is when making a .mobi compliant site and making the effort to fill it with good content and make it accessible, do we then take the step of only making it available via mobile devices?

So, there are obvious (?) pros and cons to making redirects happen for PC/Comp users and only make the .mobi viewable by mobile devices, what are these in member's experiences and what did you decide to do in the end with yours?

It just seems a waste of time to put all the effort in and then let a PC user view a .mobi site on their computer? :td:

What about search engine ranks too, is this affected if the site can't be seen by a normal computer?

Not sure how to proceed here, so comments welcome - thanks. B-)

Check out my site. CelebSex.mobi it ranks a perfect 5/5 for .mobi browsing but also looks like a regular website when viewed from a regular computer. This is done on my site with a wordpress plugin using a php script so it is not that hard. I will get the info for you on it soon I just got to look it up.
