So, I got a mail from my registrar requesting for fast transfer for names I never listed on Afternic. When I checked on Afternic, the names were actually there, listed. It got me wondering.

If giving your consent to an Afternic Fast Transfer request entails a transfer happening without your input wouldn't acceptance be a loophole in the system for scammers to exploit? Isn't that another way to steal domain names?

If one accepts such request, how does he or she get his money since the account holding it on Afternic is not his or her own? Or am I missing something here? This request came for about 7 names I listed on a Brandable market. This is the first time I'm experiencing this.

Call Afternic customer service, or email, and explain that the name is yours, but the listing isn't and they will rectify things.
Thanks. I just sent them a mail some minutes ago. And this is not just one name. Over 50. It's either coming from the Brandable marketplace but the problem is that they don't syndicate to Afternic. I've sent them a mail to confirm too.

It happens all the time. You have to ignore the emails and contact Afternic. Unfortunately they demand proof from rightful owners (screenshots) not of negligent past owners or scammers. This issue has been mentioned countless times on the Afternic thread.
This is dangerous. There should be a way to even verify ownership when this plea for fast transfer listing come in. Scammers could be cashing out on this.

Update all your domain name WHOIS to show your real contact info publicly. This helps you build ownership trust and chase out scammers who claim to own your domain.
Hi, I would like to ask- If I want to update Whois on my names, do I do that through the registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc)?
