Random People Call/Email Me

I've been having random people calling and emailing me about some of my domains. They are asking me if I'm interested in developing it into a website with them and all this other stuff. It's getting to the point where it's becoming spam.

Is this normal for domainers? And is it a scam? I know they find my info through Whois, but should I respond to their emails/ phone calls or just let it be? All advice and tips welcome. Thank you in advance.

I get loads of spam e-mails but never got a phone call. I have called one person once regarding a domain name.

I don't know what to say about the phone calls, as far as the e-mails, from my experience, most are just the typical appraisal scam.

Turn off the ringer. Mine's been off for years
My real customers know my cell phone number (by heart).

If someone wants to talk domains, my whois is public. They can email me & I will then decide if it's worth my time.

Thank you both. Yeah its the first time I ever got a phone call regarding a domain. It was an Arabian man that claimed he was a web developer and that he wanted to partner up with me. So I just hung up the phone... hope he won't call back again.

Yeah I also recieve a lot of emails but I mark them as spam. It can be a scam. I don't work with people I don't know.

You may also get fake registration notices as well through snail mail and email. Basically they are letters saying your domain is going to expire and you only need to pay $80 to renew it (what a deal right?)
If this continues to be an issue for you, you might want to consider getting a Google voice number. I don't have a lot of experience with it but I've heard you can do some nice call filtering.

That's what a separate number for registrations is for.

1% are legit so keep your eyes open. Don't just delete the email. Unless it's regular spam crap that seems to be a norm for domainers to receive.
My phone is constantly beeping with new emails. Hate these new Japanese ones that have to english words what so ever:P
