At the moment i have webspace with a different company to my domains, im using web forwarding but this means the name just stays at adoptapenguin.co.uk wether you are on the homepage or any other page. Also when you hover over the links it says the hosting address, e.g www.hostingdomain.com/minisiites/penguin/whatever.html.

Is there anyway of getting round this?

Another problem is that i think it isnt very SEO'd because of the web forwarding, all in all im a little confused,

Thanks a lot in advance

So you're hosting with one company have your domains elsewhere? Is this free hosting or paid hosting, first off? Secondly, were you given any sort of Nameservers/DNS servers? They would resemble ns1.something.com or similar (the ns1 part may be different).

I wouldn't recommend Web Forwarding at all. IMHO it comes off as being unprofessional and such and it hurts your website name and rankings.

I used forwarding without ANY problem for 2 years untill my (free) host started to get hickups. Domains in my country are free, as long as they are (quite closely) related to the country, so my website used to be 100% free. Be sure you WILL get indexed (well) by the SE´s. It might not be "professional", but it works well, rest assured.

Like Swampfox says, you need the DNS servers of you hosting, as well as the IP addresses. Nowadays a lot of hostings are not dedicated, which means that they share the IP address with others, so your IP address becomes something like; 123.123.123.123/~youraccount SOME domains do NOT allow other characters than numbers, so be sure to find out if you need it (most probably) and if they allow it.

I hope this helps

First off thanks for the help, just a little unsure on a few things.

Yes, it is paid hosting that i am sharing with a few friends that i plan to use for hosting multiple domain minisites. I wasnt the one who set up the hosting but i have enquired and have just got the dns server (well, an ip address). The index page is in a remote folder as oppose to the root folder so im a little unsure how i use this to forward it to the homepage. If you could help me out a little more it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance and rep added :)

edit - The hosting is with GoDaddy and the domains at 321reg, if that helps

I think I might have confused you more with all the chitchat about dedicated servers and such... Back to your original question:

What you should do is:
- Get your IP & DNS information (from GoDaddy) and redirect from your domain name to your hosting (that you should do at 123etc.)
- Park your domain name into your cpanel at GoDaddy. There should be an option for that. Add your domain, and you´re done.
