Hi Folks,
Im sorry to ask this of you Pro's - Ive searched but some quick input would be great. All newbie questions.

1/ whats the best domain research site- ( Im using domainsbot and overture)
2/ when searching on a registration site for an available domain to register (new) - is there any hassles with these sites scraping your queries - yeah im paranoid :)
3/ whats the best place to register if i need to transfer the site to my host
4/ good register & host (i see namepros, enom and godaddy are the norm)
is there any hosting downsides to these?
5/ is there any advantage in preloved sites and so avoid the google "sandbox" ?
6/ with domains for sale - how do you check that they are Ok and havent done something naughty.

Wow - I hope thats got most of it -- very sorry about such basic questions - This is a new area for me following my first excursions into web site building.
Now to terrorise the domains forums :hehe:

Keep well.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
1/ Overture, Google, NamePros
2/ No if you search in Reliable websites like registars websites ort whois.sc(i search there most)
3/ I didn't get that, i think you need DNS to do this, the most registars have this ability
4/ I Don't think but would better get a domain from aregistar and a hosting from a good hosting comapny
5/ Can't Answe
6/ Fin dthe mail of the owner through whois and ask them if it' theirs auction/sale

Welcome to the forums! Good luck in your new domain hobby - it's quite fun and addicting!

Google and Overture. www.DomainTops.com has an automated appraisal system, which may work for you... :-/

I just use GoDaddy.com to search for avail. names :p
3/ whats the best place to register if i need to transfer the site to my host
Just change the DNS to the ones you were supplied with.
4/ good register & host (i see namepros, enom and godaddy are the norm)
I like PolurNet.com hosting & GoDaddy/NamePros Domain Registrars
is there any hosting downsides to these?
5/ is there any advantage in preloved sites and so avoid the google "sandbox" ?
Don't get messed up with TM issues, if that's what you mean. I was told to stop using GooglePlans[dot]com just recently...

Their reputation and TR (Trader Rating) is a good resource. As for the history of a domain's site, if that's what you mean, archive.org is handy.

godaddy is a great research site. I also use them when the whois from other sites are not working.
