I have finally moved to also looking at dropped names. (it's taken almost a year). I was looking at Namejet and found a name I like in their pre-release column. I have checked it out at other services and it appears to have a decent value.

My question is this. I understand that if I back order it will go to a private auction.... right? at which time me and the other's that backordered it can bid on the name. What should I expect the auction to go up to? right now the name is at $80 something to backorder. Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks

Impossible to even guess if the name is not known. Some names stay at $29 or $69 (the minimum BO prices they set for 2 different levels of interest). Other names get bid well into the $XX,XXX and higher.

Typically, if its already at $80 - and there is time before it goes to auction, you can see this domain name rise between a few hundred and possibly a few thousand. If its at $80 before the auction starts, it means several people are interested in the domain. You can also see how many bidders there are in your backorder section.

This should be an indicator of how expensive the domain might be. Get ready to pay for it, if you really want it. I predict it going up.
