What are the rules regarding Namejet pre-release?

I understand names are placed in pre-release for a number of weeks, after which they enter a 3 day auction.

Can any domainer explain clarify the rules during the pre-release stage?

I searched namepros.com and found that:

  • If a domain has a single bid during pre-release, it will not go to auction. The only bidder wins.
Please advice.

Pre-release is sort of like a showcase period where the auction can be marketed for greater exposure.
A domain only goes to auction if there are more than one bidders. However, if there is only a single bidder, they will win the domain.
The latter of the above is assuming that there is no reserve price on the domain.

If the domain does go to auction, it will, also, only sell if it a. has no reserve price or b. the reserve price is met during bidding (or in pre-release stage).
