Question on a traffic domain at Fabulous

I have a domain parked at Fabulous that gets around 1200 uniques a month. The domain was regged in 2003 and used to be a Japanese site (B&B i think)

Like I said, it is getting around 1000-1200 uniques a month, but only a few clicks, which vary quite a bit, one click paid $3.85 the other day which was on the higher end.

Could someone give me some advice on how to get the best out of this domain

Maybe I need to park it somewhere else??

What could I sell it for??

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

If you're only getting a few clicks, you need to figure out exactly what the traffic is looking for. Namedrive offers a very basic search template with a search box right in the middle of the screen, nothing else. Hopefully your visitors will use this and give you an indication of the keywords they are looking for. Then park back at Fab and give it a shot using those keywords.

Also, you may want to check if it's just a bot sending you traffic. Host the name and check your server stats for referral urls.

Do you have it set to premium and have you customized it?

You can also request help from Fab to categorize and set it up for you.

Hi gilescoley,

As many have already mentioned, it's important to find out where the traffic is coming from and what they are clicking on.

You can run a Domain Analytics report on a per domain basis which gives you this information and more, see instructions below:

1. Click on the Domain Analytics link
2. Click on "Create new report / template"
3. Select "Custom Domain Analytics"
4. Select "Use a subset of my domains"
5. In the Keyword Match field, select "Exact match" and enter the domain name
6. Enter the Date range required
7. Add a name for the report and then click "Generate"

You will now be directed back to the Domain Analytics reports page, and once
the report is ready you will be able to click on the "View report" button.

From the Report type pull down menu, select "Keyterm" which will report all the keyterms that have been clicked on and generated revenue. You can then use this to set Target Keywords and/or Related Searches.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Go to the "Traffic Control" page of the "Portfolio" section of you Domain Manager Center.
2. Search for the domain you wish to modify.
3. Click the "Edit" button corresponding to the domain you wish to modify.
4. In the box corresponding to "Target Keyword" and "Related Searches" enter your desired word/phrases.
5. Click the "Update" button to save changes.
6. Your target keyword/phrase will be sent to customer care for approval.
7. You will be notified by email when it is approved or declined.

If you find that the traffic is predominantly from International countries, the domain is probably best monetized with another provider.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Mike

excellent detailed explaination of how to operate that

however.I have a question about choosing the main keyword.if you do the analyitic most of the time "[domain] comes up as the most searched term.Should that generally be entered as the main keyword or is that redundant since it is already in the name of the domain.Asked another way ;if the domain was mike.com most likely the [domain] would be the most searched term.Enter mike in main keyword ?or does not matter ;leaving blank will result in same ads.Second, in the case where [domain]is not the top keyword should the top keyword be substituted for the main domain name?.asked another way;if we take mike.com..if the top search was actually "mike rowe" not[domain] should mike rowe be substituted as the primary keyword?.thanks in advance for tips!

Hi cantstop,

If the top keyword is [domain] there isn't much need to put the domain's phrase as the keyword, however, it can't hurt.

On the other hand, if the top keyword is different to the domain's phrase, I would suggest using that as the keyword. Eg. NewYorkSuits.com, top keyword is "Suit Jackets", I would use that as the Target Keyword.

Just so everyone knows, Google's system rotates through different ads to determine the most appropriate result set.

Keyword targeting is used to assist ad targeting, but their system will also experiment to determine the best monetization. Google's ad system is constantly learning and will adapt to choose the best monetization for domains. It's for this reason that sometimes you may see different sets of ads rotate on your lander.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Cheers,

Mike
