Hey guys!
I wanted to know - how can I check there's no TM on a LLL.com?
I mean, yeah, I've already tried the http://tess2.uspto.gov site -
Nothing came up (well, if the domain is XYZ, I've seen a TM on XYZA).
How can I be sure I'm buying something which is safe and not protected?
I wouldn't be happy with the idea of paying $XXXX and then being sued and lose it all.

I'm not a lawyer..But I think it's pretty hard to break a TM issue with an LLL.com. Most three letter words that are pronounceable are too generic to be trademarked..

The LLL.com that have been lost through WIPO were usually parked, and showing sponsored ads that caused TM issues.

BME is an example.

I don't think LLL.com are especially risky but they are more coveted, so there is a likelihood somebody will want yours. Not everybody wants to pay the (your) price, so WIPO has become a relatively cheap lottery ticket to try seizing domains. It sometimes work because domain holders put themselves in a difficult position.

Bottom line:
Use them, don't park them.
