So I bought ******.com off of GoDaddy auctions two days ago, but it's still not letting me change my nameservers, and it's not even showing up in my account yet. It was an expired domain. How long does it usually take for the domain to transfer to my account so I can change the nameservers?

Seven days.

Meanwhile, the original registrant still has the option to renew at a premium or transfer out.

Welcome to the wacky world of Go Daddy auctions.

So even though I paid for it, the original owner still has the option to buy it back? That's lame. Have you had that happen? Did you receive a refund? I only paid $5, but it'd still be pretty shitty if the original registrant bought it back and GoDaddy didn't refund me.

Several times, the last time two days ago.

If it happens, you WILL receive a full refund.

I see that this name was a closeout ($5 BIN) -- it's not too likely that this one will be renewed (no guarantees, of course), and you might see this domain in your account in about 3-4 days.

Go Daddy auction domains (expired and closeouts) are transferred to new owners on day 45-46 after expiration. Your name expired on 12/9/2013, today is 1/19/2014, so day 45 will be 1/23/2014.

Tip: don't reveal the auction domains you have won until it actually hits your account (I didn't repeat the name in this post).

I suggest that you "x" it out in your original post.

:)

Thank you for the info. And I "stared" out the domain.

Fortunately I have personally never had a closeout get reclaimed by the original owner.

However for me, those that had bids in auction were a different story, I have had some get renewed, and I am promptly refunded by GoDaddy. It's not rare, it happens more times than it should - sometimes it is intentionally done by the owner - to let it go to auction to see how much it would fetch.

I have had at least two closeouts renew on me, but not at the $5.00 level.

If you are a second highest bidder and the winner does not pay then Godaddy will mail to Second highest bidder for purchase at their bidden price in 24 hours.
But key thing - Is it Obligatory for second bidder to fullfilled the requirement???

No it isn't. If you don't respond in 24hrs, nothing bad will happen to your account.

I bought many domains through GD expired auctions and the original owners renew some of them. I have always been quickly completely refunded.
When you win an auction or buy a domain through them click on your " won " tab and you will see how things are proceeding for your won/bought names.

Closeouts get renewed all the time even at $5, like Ms.Domainer said you never mention the name and wait til its in your Go Daddy account.
