Has anyone ever tried advertising in print to reach end users?

Say the domain is industry specific like drum sets. Has anyone put an ad in say the back of a drummer magazine? Or better yet a drum manufacturer magazine?

Thanks,

Ben

It sounds like an interesting idea for premium domains.

I have known some people in the past who have set up a booth at an industry trade show to sell targeted premium domains.

Many times there are those advertiser blocks that it seems they resell for smaller text ads. If you could get one of those for a few hundred it could be well worth it. Otherwise this sort of advertising costs thousands.

Print advertising to promote a developed website / product can definitely be worthwhile.

With that said, the ad rates for magazines are way inflated, even more than their circulation numbers.

For example, if the ad rate for a full page is stated as costing $10 thousand, in reality, they may settle for 1/5 or even 1/10 of that.
