http://www.domainersmagazine.com/20...the-2008-economy-and-the-domain-industry.htmlThe real world – most especially the housing market may be reeling from one of the worst economic crisis in recent years but, surprisingly, the domain or digital real-estate industry continues to find itself on solid ground. In fact, the economic crisis itself may be partially responsible for the growth of the domain industry this year. Those who wanted to find alternative solutions to their money woes and discover new investment vehicles have gone online to find the information they needed. Consequently, domain names like petrolprices.co.uk, onlinesavingsaccount.com and many others which are recession-related have found themselves in the limelight.
Pay-per-Click advertising also seems to be one of the few advertising media that is enjoying growth during these hard times. TV advertising is down, radio advertising is stagnating, print ads are losing their grip, but online advertising seems to be enjoying a modest growth. Online customer conversion is still increasing at record rates and this may, in part, be due to the absence of local limitations on this advertising niche. Of course the decreased ad spending this year means that we cannot expect PPC growth this year to be as robust as before.
To top it all, a new trend seems to be starting in the domaining industry, and domaining is finally beginning to show its true potential. More and more businesses and international corporations are scrambling around to stake their claim on the digital world. As a result, domain name prices are still on the rise as direct traffic becomes a lot more appreciated and as the domain secondary market becomes a lot more competitive.
All in all, the domain market is proving to be a wise investment platform, and this state of affairs is bound to continue this 2008.
