I was just curious as to what graphics design program you like best (I.E. Photoshop, Paintshop, 3ds Max, etc)? Please state a reason as well.

Photoshop!

I actually have only used the trial version, but I really liked it compared to PSP when I had it. It seemed to have alot of nice features and fairly easy to learn some of the basics.

I agree. It's very interesting because I heard Photoshop was so advanced and hard to learn but I actually found it easier to use than PSP. I don't know maybe that's just me...

Photoshop and MSPaint

I tried learning 3d studios max, but my computer sucked so half the time it wouldn't work. and the half of the time that it did work i found it to complicated, although i was like... 13 or 14 when i tried to learn it.

I used to use Fireworks for nearly everything... I knew photoshop a bit, but it was always easier for web graphics to pull up fireworks.

Now, i'm going back to photoshop, just because of the superior filters. Fireworks used to be able to use photoshop filters, but no more. I guess adobe didn't like that.

Oh, and bryce and painter are good for backgrounds, and I especially like painter's clone tool, makes for some very interesting collages.

Definitely Photoshop 7 ( not 6.0 ) Fireworks MX for rollovers is by far the fastest, Adobe Imageready is pretty dope to use, but seems to be a lagger when used in parallel with Photoshop.

Photoshop and Illustrator together are the two programs I used the most and can do pretty much everything I need with the two of them.

Fireworks MX is the way to go if you're looking for tight integration with macromedia's new studio MX 2004. Fireworks integrates extremely well with dreamweaver and flash MX 2004. Fireworks MX 2004 even lets you import its layers and transitions into flash MX. Of course, if you're using Adobe Golive, I would suggest illustrator..

Another alternative which offers many options and foolproof interface is definitely photoimpact 8. Ulead rarely fails to impress with its nice-looking and simply spectacular software that even noobs like me can use.

I didn't even read a tutorial and just jumpstarted Ulead's photoimpact. Photoimpact 8 offers the most inituitive interface among the other big 3. The built-in add-ons and effects are simply second to none; letting you use complex effects and animation with loads of options without any hassle

In short, depending on the learning curve you expect, the features and the cost, you will be able to choose one... or two.

Now... if we're talking about abstract images and creating your own work, I would say Lightwave, Bryce, Maya, and 3D Studio Max.... Photoshop is the best image editing software out there which can make yo ua full website, the other programs cannot, they only make the images... but I use all those programs for my work...

My Rankings:
1. Photoshop
2. Lightwave 7 3D
3. 3D Studio Max
4. Cinema 4D
5. Maya
6. Bryce (For the nice landscaping images)
